If you've picked up on anything about Gettleman you would see that there is literally no chance for this to happen even before taking our current cap situation into consideration. Revis is great but his NY Jets mentality and yearly holdouts would not fly with Gettleman or Richardson.

A 2nd round pick for a one year rental is bad enough but then factor in...

He's coming off a major injury and will most likely be a bit rusty the first part of the season.
Coming off 6-10 and 7-9 seasons we're not exactly poised to make a championship run.
There's very little chance we resign him after 2013.

We need to be looking for guys that are steals in free agency, that we can sign for much cheaper than they are actually worth. Not giving up high draft picks for a one year rental and then having to pay out a mega-deal to keep him.

No ahole type players like Revis or Bowe that hold out for even more green than they are alreday making. I hate those type of characters. So a clear NO from my side here.

It'd be a tough call for me, but we could cut Gamble and save somewhere in the neighborhood of $8 or 9 mil (I forget which) and trade for Revis who's making $6mil this year. Upgrade and savings at the same time.

It's $8M and we are $16M over the cap. We need to cut Gamble, Edwards and Nakamura AND do something with Beason and Gross (cut or restructure) just to get to the salary cap.

Then if you are going to sign Revis you need $6M+ more.

When you hear a "willing to trade" report on a big name, it's quite often followed by a "didn't really mean it" sort of statement from the team within a day or so. Those sorts of things are coing out of New York now.

Carolina would never make a move for Revis precisely because some idiot other team out there will easily offer him huge money for a multi-year contract. Even considering his injuries and everything else.
