It's fundamentally flawed due to the fact that each county shows majority favorites alone and doesn't account for the spread of secondary favorites (which would change the diffusion patterns enormously.) it's good enough to get a very, very basic idea of which teams ate popular in which part of the nation but the data is misleading in its presentation.

I question the validity of this map, but taking it at face value LA is Raiders territory... Raiders want a new stadium... am I missing something here?

I always think it's funny when they talk about how Steelers fans "travel well".

No, most of the Steelers fans at a Panthers game are a bunch of bandwagon hoppers that couldn't point out Pittsburgh on a map.

I really want one of the news channels to walk around with an unmarked map of the US and ask these Steelers fans to point to where Pittsburgh is...

Well, they got the Saints territory right. Spent alot of time growing up in MS and they have MS on lock. I question Alabama, though. Based on the folks I know from there, I'd say its half Saints half Falcons.

To those of you doubting this maps validity. It is simply a collection of statistics based off the number of "likes" a teams page has received. Because "more than 1 in 10 Americans have declared their support for an NFL team on Facebook" I would call this pretty reliable/valid data.

That being said, the map breaks down by county and does not give any information about 2nd/3rd etc. choices made. Pretty awesome visual if you ask me.

falcons fans make that claim a lot-that the carolinas were "falcons country" before the panthers existed.

that's total bullshit. i didn't know a single falcons fan before we got the panthers. loads of cowboys and redskins fans but nobody gave a hot poo about the falcons because they sucked.

yep. i knew steelers, redskins, and cowboys fans....no falcon fans. braves? oh yeah, tons of them but the falcons were as popular as the hawks and by that i mean they were a laughing stock.
