Newtown CT has a population of 27,000 / 23 murders = a murder for every 1173 people

Chicago IL has a population of 2,700,000 /500 murders = a murder for every 5400 people

Is Newtown CT a more dangerous city than Chicago IL?

According to this it is 4.5x more dangerous than the "warzone" of Chicago with roving bands of murderers and rapists

Thanks!

That was your own work you posted earlier in this thread?

I figured it was HuffPo because only they think that the NRA is some evil organization.

Most firearms owners dont care about or read any NRA publications. It is mainly just a favorite target of the anti-gun lobby because they know that it is a Constitutional right to bear arms, and they have created this fictional monster to play the 'bogieman' for their readers. (Just the same as the Republicans trying to scare their constituents by saying the word 'Socialism' over and over... it just isnt true.)

If not for the left lashing out at the NRA, they would have to lash out at the Constitution itself, and they know they that would be counter-productive.

That would be an interesting statistic. Does increasing the number of guns in a household make it a more dangerous place.

The only stat I can collect on it so far is I or my family have 0% of dying by a gun I own if I do not own one.

That is pretty amazing math.

You also have 0% of defending your family against an armed intruder if you do not own a gun as well.

We can do better than this.

If you own firearms and have small children. then you need to keep your weapons unloaded, with the ammo behind lock and key (with a few rounds up high on a shelf in the closet for emergencies.

99.9999% of gun owners understand this, so this is a non issue.

As far as the domestic issue... if some dude is angry enough to kill his wife, he will do it anyway. There are a 1001 ways to do that, even without a firearm.

If a gun is the only way you can defend your family I would be pretty worried about my home defense.

I would take my situation 10 out of 10.

Another misnomer - just because someone chooses to not own a gun does not mean they are incapable of defending their home.

In fact I would say that I live less afraid in my home than all the chicken poo gun owners who have a false sense of security because they own a weapon.
