This guy didn't like the 18% auto gratuity on his bill...





It says... "I give god 10%, why do you get 18%?"

In the comments on the post, the person who submitted the image explains that this was just a portion of the total bill for a table of 20, which means the 18% tip is automatically put on the bill.
“Parties up to eight at my work may tip whatever they’d like,” explains the server, “but larger parties receive an automatic gratuity. It’s in the computer, it’s not something I do.” The auto-gratuity policy is apparently also listed on the menu.
In total, the group ran up more than $200 worth of food before tax and tip, says the server. As for whether or not the zero-dollar tip reflect the quality of service, the waiter writes, “They had no problem with my service, and told me I was great. They just didn’t want to pay when the time came.”

I don't like auto-tipping policies.

It's very rare that I tip only 18% on my own, so when it's automatically added like that, it's my form of protest to never tip any more than the minimum.

But as a pastor way to go on giving your deity the bare minimum. Wonder how soon he asks the congergation to reach down and " give a bit more this week".

Automatic tips are done because you've made yourself one of the few tables if not the only table that waiter can attend to during the time that you're there. You've monopolized their time.

If requested, they will take the 18% off. You just can't be all passive aggressive about your complaints and/or sneakily cheap.

The fact that he is a pastor is irrelevant, not sure why he would take the time to write it on the note. If you don't make enough to afford the automatic tip, then sit at seperate tables, or go by a chicken place and get some takeout.

The worse service I have ever gotten at a restaurant has always and I mean always when the automatic tip was included.

I used to work as a river guide where tipping is also customary and if you want to argue about monopolized time I would have groups for either whole day or half day. And have either been stiffed or get like $5 after working my ass off to make sure they had a great day, I've even returned tips before because of that. So I don't feel sorry for a waiter or waitress that gets a bad tip because I know I've worked harder then them and still gotten stiffed.

But with that said I've also been tipped as much as $200 for a day trip before which I about shat my pants after getting it

$0 tip is a dick move. Non-tippers are the most militant people I know about it too.
