Reason Why Sherrod Was Benched

Nah, he has been horrible at FS here...most of his snaps here have been at FS.

We need a FS and SS. Godfrey has stunk at both spots. Whichever spot he is better at....has never been good S play

Nope, Godfrey was moved to SS when Harris was cut and Martin became our starting FS.

They tried Nakamura at FS and we all know how that worked out, so they switched Godfrey to FS and Rivera said he realized Godfrey was much better suited to play FS towards the end of this past season.

His first 2 seasons where at FS, next two at SS and was a mix this year.

Okay, he has played about the same at both spots. A hot mess at both.

He was one of the worst S in the NFL this year prior to the move....he may have played slightly better but he isn't good. Just bc he isn't set the house on fire bad like Nakamura doesn't make him not a bad S

You can't compare the first 2 years as a free safety to what he would do now and call that a fair comparison. He started out as a rookie learning a position he was totally unfamiliar with and he made mistakes like rookie do. If he plays it now, you would expect better results.

You original comparison is like looking at how Davis played strong safety as a rookie and then switched to linebacker and had to learn the position and comparing year 2 or 3 to how he played linebacker this year. There is no comparison between a rookie learning the job versus a seasoned vet being moved back to a position he played years ago.

That doesn't include the fact that we play a different system now then we did when Godfrey was a rookie or even in year 2.

I like Martin. He's not as bad as he is put out to be.
