Why would anyone be jealous? Most NFL fans view Cam as a mildly retarded running quarterback with no leadership skills. Why do you think people are putting guys like Russell Wilson ahead of him?

Totally jealous of a guy who has yet to lead his team to a winning season. Good thinking!!!

literally everything else being equal-the exact same plays being called, exact same roster, same injuries, etc.-if you dropped russell wilson on this team, are the panthers in the playoffs this season?

note: i'm required by law to disclose that if you answer "yes", you are voluntary admitting that you're stupid and have a child-like understanding of football and should never post ever again. i don't make the rules, i just have to enforce them.

Cam may have grown in the form of being more media savvy . As far as the humble, smart, and funny, Cam was always that.

I honestly feel the whole new Cam "has matured" stuff is just as bogus as the whole Cam was "immature stuff." It shows how folks can take any little thing someone does and use it to undermine their image and before admitting that it was they who was wrong, they simply turn around and act like it's the person who has changed and not them being insecure. That's manipulation at it's best. The media is wrong about Cam and they know it.

Be careful with assuming that your perceptions are correct and others are wrong. I think you are right, to a degree, and I hate the media--they try to create stories. But I teach college kids and I see a ton of maturing between the freshmen and the seniors. I also see how the seniors act like they know everything until the real world slaps them around a bit.

Cam was not humble at Auburn, nor was he as a rookie. He may have said humble things that he was coached to say, but he was not humble or mature. The Pro Bowl showed that.

Losing this season, when people expected him to win, humbled Cam. Finally, he realized that he was not the best and his team was not better because he was not better.

Now he is back at school. Imagine the difference from his perspective. A student, honoring his promise to his mother. Being compared to a second rounder from Nevada who is in the super bowl--a player with a similar skill set. People are asking him about Kaepernick, not Kaepernick about Cam.

Do not be foolish and suggest that Cam was a natural born leader and his head was in the right place when he came here. Cam has grown up--most people do when the go from 21 and college to 23 and the real world. Now you will see Cam Newton become great and the Panthers will benefit. \

To suggest that he was mature when he arrive is not accurate. He was obviously being coached what to say and do. He was reading a script--his actions (temper tantrums, comments about Chud, etc) told me that he was not there yet. I get paid to analyze people his age, and I do not know any more than what I observe, but I also see stuff between the lines that you seem to have ignored.

I love your loyalty, and I am glad we have Cam. I just saw something I liked in that interview, and I saw the absence of something I liked even more.
