My Early 2013 Mock Draft

61 posts in this topic

Here is my question to all of you...

Do you all think a core of Kemba, McClemore or Shabazz, MKG, Jefferson and Biz is a future championship team? I feel like this is a future playoff team but will constantly lose in the first or second round.

So do we sign a max player i.e Jefferson this year or try and build thru the draft one more yr and hope to get lucky with the "superstar 2014" class?

We should not, under any circumstance, give Jefferson a max contract. You only give max contracts to guys that can be the best player on a championship team. Jefferson is not that type of player and never will be. These are the top bigs in FA in my opinion: Howard, Bynum, Jefferson, Millsap, Pekovic (restricted)

We would have to give Howard, Bynum or Jefferson a max contract. Howard and Bynum probably wouldn't want to come here anyway. Jefferson isn't worth it.

We would have to give Millsap 10-12 million/year and could possibly get Pekovic for 8-9. Potentially we could sign Millsap or Pekovic for very close to what a single max contract would cost. Or one of them and JJ Hickson. Point is, we can get two very good players for what Jefferson would cost, and since he would never lead us to a championship, I would go that route instead

Ibaka and Omer Asik- both taken after Alexi Ajinca in '08

Gortat, Pekovic, Vucevic have all been impressive lately, as well as Marc Gasol (who has been around a bit longer)

Thank you

We'll have to build through the draft in 2014. That's a badddda$$$$ draft!

I'm taking some heat on this for a while but im sticking to it. If we want to win a Championship or just games in the Playoffs, Kemba at PG isnt the answer. We can use an upgrade there. Kemba is a great 6th man who change the pace of the game and give you points when needed. Overall, Kemba isn't the long term answer at PG if he doesn't improve his game dramatically.

Wishful thinking, but now if a back court of CP3, McLemore, and MKG? Of course

For the 14th pick, I take one of Isaiah Austin (if he falls) or Mason Plumlee.

Plumlee essentially has the talent level of Zeller and can be had at a later pick.

I'm also on board with Jefferson, he is a must sign.

What about Willie Cauley-Stein?

I doubt he falls that far, too much potential and an NBA body.

I'm looking at McCollum or Oladipo with Portland's pick. This is assuming that a big is taken with our own pick.

Char pick- Noel/Bennett/Len/Zeller

Por pick- McCollum/Oladipo

or

Char pick- Bazz (please no)/McLemore

Por pick- Olynyk (please no)/Plumlee

I like that first draft. I would be happy with any of those bigs and McCollum and Oladipo could be great off the bench. I think both have the potential to become starters as well, but great off the bench if not.

I'm starting to like a Combo Of Alex Len with the 1st pick and Oladipo with the second 1st round pick.

My personal opinion is we should stay the course. I really like our young players. They play extremely hard and with a few more pieces we got a great chance to make noise. Carolina-chuck I know you want CP3 and who wouldn't but if we got him next year that would do nothing for us but make us a treadmill team and we would lose out on the potential of the 2014 draft. My hope is we stay the course and don't pick up any costly players unless it is a superstar! We shouldn't overpay just bc we are Charlotte!

My dream:

PG: Walker

SG: One of these 6 players or MKG depending on height/quickness

SF: One of the players below or MKG depending on height/strength

PF: Noel/Anthony

C: BIz

I put Biz as Center because he doesn't have good enough lateral movement to cover PFs and he goes for too many fakes. But I feel Noel can guard either position.

    • Destiny really fuged me in terms of me playing other games. I have a week off this summer and maybe I will be able to dive back in, but I'd really like to finish Breath of the Wild too.  Witcher is so much fun, but iirc I'm kind of at a point where all my quests are a much higher level than me (like 30s and I'm a 15 or something). I probably need to back track and pick up a bunch of side quests that are manageable to boost my level some.    I like the Witcher's lore better than Skyrim, but I still think Skyrim is a more appealing game to me just because you can casually pick it up and start dominating. Witcher is more rewarding but takes more time.
    • No way would I consider CAP a lock to make the roster. In fact, I think he may be on the outside looking in at the moment. But, the stats bear out that he was roughly equal to Stew in effectiveness last year. Stew averaged 3.78ypc and a TD once every 24 carries. CAP averaged 4ypc and a TD once every 18 carries. Hell, it may be generous saying that Stew was equal to CAP in effectiveness last year. I think a lot of Panthers fans suffer from nostalgia when looking at Stew. I still think he's a decent RB, but to hear some Panthers fans talk you'd think that the guy was a future HOFer. I feel like most of us (myself and the front office and coaching staff included) have perpetually overvalued Jonathan Stewart.
