Round 1: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri

Posted Image

Sheldon Richardson is known for his high motor and aggression at the line. He is consistently in back-field pressuring the QB or disrupting the run. Putting him in the middle with CJ and Hardy attacking from the outside would make our DL one of the most feared for years. Also, a dominant front 7 will make our secondary look much better than it really is. Finally acknowledging the lack of a good DT is what this team needs.

Round 2: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor

Posted Image

As with DT, wide receiver is another position this franchise has been ignoring for years. It's time we realize Smitty won't be around forever and we need to find his replacement (and a #2 for while Smitty is still here). I would absolutely love to have Hopkins or Patterson but both will be gone at this point. However, Terrance Williams is another fantastic option. Big, fast, physical. Everything you want in a WR. A definite deep threat as well as a great route runner for those short to intermediate routes. Lining Williams up with Smitty for the next couple seasons would be a huge treat for Cam.

Round 4: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State

Posted Image

We could go in several directions here but I think if Poyer is on the board he'd be the guy. Poyer is known for his great coverage skills and playmaker ability. He was second in the nation in interceptions but does struggle against the run. Anyone taken in round 4 will have some skills that need developing, Poyer is no different. However, his playmaking ability is something our defense really needs.

Round 5: Omoregie Uzzi, G, Georgia Tech

Posted Image

Not only does Uzzi have a great name, he is a great fit for our team. He is extremely mobile for an OG and was in a option-type offense in college. He is very effective at blocking at the second level which is something our offense requires with Cam and the RBs. Not a flashy pick but a great fit.

Round 6: Shamarko Thomas, S, Syracuse

Posted Image

Shamarko is known for his physical play and big hit ability. He plays very aggressive and makes his presence known as WRs come across the middle for a catch. Obviously, these traits are lacking in our secondary. While he ball skills aren't quite developed yet, his impressive tackling and aggressiveness is something we desperately need.

Round 6 (comp): Caleb Sturgis, K, Florida

I can't believe we still don't have a solid kicker. Hopefully we can snag a good one this draft. Sturgis seems like a good option.

I actually really like this mock, it addresses some very important needs, provided the Panthers resign Dwan, Captain and keep Hangartner (you will need veteran depth on the O-line if you are only drafting one lineman). As much as I like Shmarko Thomas, that pick might be better suited for an DE/OLB hybrid guy so we can trade James Anderson for another pick.

Lastly, I thought Gano performed quite well, minus that one missed PAT (which I get, he was with the team for a few days and it takes time to get used to your fellow special teams players), but we do need a legit kicker - look how well Blair Walsh did for the VIkings last year.

Hate the Richardson pick unless we some how lose Dwan.

Jordan Poyer is a first rounder, maybe even a second. Thomas and Uzzi are also not in the right spots.

I'm ok with Richardson. Not a fan of T. Williams, there will probably be a WR available in the 2nd I like better than him. Poyer's stock has supposedly been falling, but I doubt he falls to the 4th.

If this mock is how it turned out, I'd be happy with it.

It could be because of his arrest last year:

http://www.gazetteti...1a4bcf887a.html

It sounds like an isolated incident blown out of proportion. I don't see why he'd drop either.

On the draft:

Richardson would be a good direction don't get me wrong but I just don't think he will be the BPA when we pick and that's what I'm looking for. There's a slim chance T-Will falls but I just don't see it happening and Poyer as mentioned is going to be long gone by round 4. Uzzi is an interesting prospect.

Hate Richardson, he will end up as a below average 5 tech.

Richardson is an overweight linebacker playing DT.

Not bad. I think the only way Richardson will be effective is if he is paired with a nt that takes up two blocks

I like Williams quite a bit. He'd be a lovely second round pick.

hell no to an UD when we have nothing at NT.

there will be better options at WR and OL in the 2nd

Poyer will not be there in the 4th. he is one of the best CBs in the game, likely gone in the 1st.

hard for me to judge a unrealistic mock.

Not Bad except the WR in the 2nd. I like Richardson if we pick a NT in FA othter then that we will have to get a space eater not a penetrator.
