People are always going to complain, black, white, straight, gay, you name it...they will find SOMETHING to complain about.

when you get knee deep in academia and play arm chair sociologists, you end up missing the boat on dumb assumptions.

this blogger lady, wow. but she proves my point how people somehow think they know whats in somebody elses heart or head. impossible.

but for her to break this down in the context she did for the motives is scary. like diabolical scary. don't think for a min she is the only person to think like this and she is somehow a "leader".

this reminds me of a buddy who had about 24 trips too many on acid. he would always try to over analyze songs and their meanings in the lyrics and such. i once told him you ever thought maybe the lyrics were so because they just happened to rhyme?

confirmation bias at its extreme.

and as a soon to be 45 yr old guy. i have NEVER once got caught up in the ethnic make up of a woman. if she is attractive she is attractive.

At the same time, Beyonce’s performance was also excruciating because the circumstances under which black women are finally being handed the mic are oppressive. (And yes, Beyonce was handed the mic; anyone with a sociological imagination knows that Beyonce was on stage only because powerful people – e.g., those who produce the Super Bowl – decided that it was in their best interest to grant her access.)

Isn't this the only logical reason anyone would be on stage? Why would you book someone to perform at a major event when you don't think it's in your best interest?

It's not about the quality of the show. It's supposed to be about the NFL throwing quality to the wind because they should wanna make a statement for equality and show that strait thuggin black people like Missy Elliot are more betterererer than black people who dye their blonde.

Just for the record folks...NEVER think or assume people like the author speak for all persons for color. Not saying anyone is, but that almost pisses me off just as much as the articles themselves at times.

On subject, its entertainment. I'll never understand why we can't all just have an opinion, and move on. Either you like it or you don't and thats it. Personally, I enjoy her work, and I find her sexy.

I know I don't think that... 'cause then you might think that idiots like that Kincannon speak for all white people.

It's just like anything else though... people complaining Beyonce was too sexy, didn't sing, did this, didn't do that... complaining that Alecia Keys didn't sing the anthem right, too slow, blah, blah... whatever. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but there's way, way too many people that get way too easily offended about some really dumb poo.

FWIW I thought that both the anthem and the halftime show was perfectly fine. I did not mind one bit watching Beyonce dance around that stage, was quite thrilling.
