Ryan's defenses have ranked bottom 10 in the league in pass defense for 8 of his 9 years.

Cam just had a little smile on his face.

And he had better talent in Dallas than the crap they have in NO.

On the bright side, stock for chicken franchises in New Orleans is way up.

Also look it up, no team where he has been a DC has ever been to the playoffs. He's living off his name, not his results.

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has fleshed out some of the details surrounding the St. Louis Rams' courting of, then separation, from Rob Ryan.

The bottom line, according to a source, is that Ryan declined the defensive coordinator position due to hesitations from coaching a 4-3 system and not being able to pick his assistants.

"He wanted it to work, and I just think he realized over the weekend that it was not (a fit)," a source told Thomas. "Rob was torn."

Don't think he'll get to pick assistants in New Orleans either, though the DB Coach job is open.

Joe Vitt is the LB Coach but also has the "Assistant Head Coach" title. Like Ryan, he's a big personality. Could be fun to watch how that meshes (or doesn't).

PFT is calling it a "done deal".

Once the hire is official, you can bet on Saint fans proclaiming him a virtual god

And of course, with Payton running the offense and Ryan running the defense, they'll be guaranteed a Super Bowl victory. The season will just be a formality.

With his daddy being one of the original bounty (head) hunters, I'd say he's starting a couple yrs late otherwise a perfect fit.
