Panthers sign DT Colin Cole

This signing is a no lose situation. If Cole still has something left, great, he can be an upgrade at DT. If he's done, we cut his fat ass. Gettleman knows what he's doing.

yes. Probably non guaranteed, one year deal. I imagine we will bring in a qaulity DT and try to find depth on the street by bringing in five or six to compete for 2 or 3 roster spots. He may not have played in 2 seasons, but if he is in shape, he has experience and will play for 20% of Ron Edwards' contract.

32 years old but with two years of no wear and tear on the body. Two years to heal his body. The guy can play. The man could be a great tandem with D. Edwards or a solid back-up.

I am not a fan of DTs under 300lbs. In Today's NFL I believe 300 is the cut off. 328 is a beefy DT.

If his ankle fails than we don't risk anything. What really helps is a small contract. If he can play and we can carry him with a small contract. Gettleman keeps quality on the team and still helps us get out from under the Hurney CAP mess.

I am kind of excited to see Cole, now that Smitty and Gettleman have both mentioned how good he looks.

He'll be a nice piece to the rotation. I'm loving how our D-line looks.

Also byebye Fua.

Both Gettleman and Rivera mentioned in the presser last night about how much Fua was improving. That's good, because he'd have to improve dramatically just to suck.
