we wanted/needed a run-stuffer.

this is a start.

i suspect we'll be seeing more pick ups like this and to be honest even though it was a bit of a "wtf" kind of shock, it's pretty much the type of guy i was expecting gettleman to find to fill holes. guys that most have never heard of, that were not even blips on most teams radars, but who have something that caught gettleman's well trained eye.

he said he wanted big guys and TD scorers. 6'2 and 330 pounds is big.

One of those low risk "give him a shot" signings that occasionally pays off but costs you pretty much nothing if it doesn't.

Might see a fair share of these this offseason.

yes guys clearly being on the field at any point is the absolute unquestionable indicator of what makes a player talented

He does have over 200 tackles playing a spot where you typically don't rack up tackles, as a guy who only started two seasons. I would call that moderately talented.

Gettlemen did Cole a huge favor signing him this early. Gives Cole plenty of time to get into shape. Gettlemen must have had an eye on him for this to happen so quickly. Hope that pays off for us.

I wonder if Gettleman signed Cole as a possible backup option to Frank Kearse or Sione Fua or as a replacement for Ron Edwards. If it's to replace Edwards, it says a lot of what our FA strategy will be this year.
