I'm starting to like Lane Johnson a lot.

I see a lot in this guy that makes me think he's a pretty viable option at 14 with Joeckel and Fisher going before him.

He's quick footed, very technically refined and uses his arms very well. He's tall at 6'6" and certainly has the frame to put on additional weight, which could be considered the weakness of his game (he's 302, roughly the same weight Matt Kalil came in at last year around this time) as he can have trouble with aggressive bull rushers.

here's a picture for those of you who can't read

Oklahoma moved him back and forth from LT and RT over the course of single games while he was there so his experience at both positions also gives him some additional value though he primarily played LT.

He's been shooting up draft boards and he may be my horse in this race in the coming months.

Yea, especially if we release Jordan Gross, I would definitely consider Lane Johnson with our 1st round pick. He was a former JUCO and HS QB too, so he is pretty athletic. He has a lot of potential.

Johnson has grown on me too. I like the fact that he's played both LT and RT. If we re-structure Gross, he could hold down RT for a year and move to LT in his 2nd year.

Johnson is a solid player and a very realistic option.

I just think he's more of a "potential" player than a "safe" pick. If it is between him and a better all around player when we select, it will be the BPA.

Apparently Johnson ran a 4.67 40 yesterday during a training session for the combine. The kid is an athletic freak at 6-7, 305! He may be a little raw at first but he has all the tools to be a top LT in his career. He may not even make it to us at 14.

Here's the story about the 40: http://boltbeat.com/...ard-dash-today/

Here's actual video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBVigIzyfxs&sns=tw (He runs between the 1:38-1:47 mark and the 4:20-4:27 mark)

He also recently posted a 37-inch vertical

Agree, at first I did not like him that much. Later in the season he really showed improvement especially in his bowl game+senior bowl. I think he is going to be a great tackle in the NFL.

If he's there at 14 we will take him. No doubt in my mind. We can always draft a DT in the 2nd round.

Supposedly he ran a 4.6 40. That's insane.

Still need a guard though, interior play was alot worse than tackle play

Good player but bad move at no.14. Gettleman will not take an OL with the 1st pick. Trust me. And Gross will restructure his contract.

We do need a guard but it is alot easier and cheaper to get a good guard in FA than a LT. I view replacements for Gross and Steve Smith as high priority since A)we have options for neither on the roster and B) starting LT's and #1 WR's are expensive and rare in FA. IMO DT, OG, LB and Safety are easier to find cheap starters at in FA so high draft picks should be used elsewhere unless it's a special talent. my 2 cents

Don't care for 40 times especially from an OT. His quick feet off the snap is very impressive though.

(not that a 300+ lb man running a 4.6 40 isn't impressive from a strictly athletic stand point)

He has been my choice since Sr Bowl Wed practice.
