time to move on from that dream and start looking at more serious solutions to improving a weak WR unit focused on a middle aged player in the last couple years of his career and whom should be expected to miss time.

Maybe Gettis is done but how would we know? I don't trust Rivera's doghouse judgment yet.

Yeah, that's the word on the street, but I won't actually believe it until I see it. So many years of disappointments...A fan's gotta do something to keep his sanity.

I think if Gettis does something at this point it's a good surprise, not something you count on. Like with T Davis this year. Great that it happened but we had guys in place if it didn't. If we take a WR high and then Gettis starts blowing up then that's a good thing. I'm tired of us being like Houston. Since they have Andre Johnson and a strong running game they think that's enough and it's not. We have made that same mistake for almost a decade. Steve, another legit #1 WR, Lafell and BIG IF Gettis. Then when Steve quits you still have 3 quality WR's.. Who knows if he's healthy and producing Gettis might overtake Lafell. Or we cut him in training camp and we still have Steve, high pick, and Lafell. Either way problem is addressed. It's like taking Kuechly even though we all love Beason, it was still the right move. And Gettis is much more of a question mark

every year I have a conversation with my father about how promising the next year looks. Until I see results, the new shiny toy shouldn't get rewarded with praise until he earns it.

While I think Gettis and LaFell can both be solid number two WRS, this team needs a new number one....

Maybe Rivera didn't want to push him too hard in last years meaningless second half of the season.


That said, I am all for acquiring another WR either through the draft or FA.

not so much writing him off as much as just being smart enough to know he can't be counted on. we have to move beyond the gettis dream. if he works out, great. we just have to act like he won't and we have to act as if smith is going to miss significant time due to injury or retiring.

I don't think it's completely writing him off, just not counting on him. If we get rid of Armanti and Murphy that makes room for a draft pick and Gettis/Bryant or whoever steps up

If TD can make it back so too can Gettis, however with a new GM there is no guarantee he makes his comeback in a Panthers uniform.

I suspect he will get one more offseason/preseason with us at the minimum, but I'm hardly ever right.
