How was this not done sooner

For real. You can get one of those big practice bubbles at Sports Authority. Wait until
Sundays and get like 25% off.

I recall practicing rugby in freezing rain for an hour and nobody ever suggested we go snuggle inside.

Granted I wasn't under contract.

But seriously how often do we need a bubble? 3 times a year?

if someone asked me if any teams in the league didn't have an indoor facility I obviously would have gotten the answer wrong!!!!

I've posted this before, but seems apt, here is Redskins forum link regarding Indoor Practice Facilities:

http://www.extremesk...re-wins-in-2010

I stole the stats regarding correlation between teams with IPFs and their overall records/success from the above link. There is the whole correlation vs. causality thing to consider but it is interesting.

  • 13 of last 14 Super Bowl participants had their own indoor practice facility.
  • Last 8 Super Bowl winners had their own indoor practice facility.
  • Last 6 Super Bowl winners had a fixed structure indoor practice facility (not a bubble).
  • All 12 teams to make playoffs last season used their own indoor practice facility.
  • 2010 teams who practiced using their own indoor full-field training facility had a median win total of 10 (10-6 record).
  • 2010 teams who practiced outdoors had a median win total of 6 (6-10 record).
  • 2010 teams who practiced indoors at own training facility averaged 4 more wins in 2010, compared to those who did not.
  • 2010 teams who practiced outdoors and were not located in Florida or California, had the following records: 6-10 (Redskins), 6-10 (Cowboys), 5-11 (Cardinals), 4-12 (Bengals), 4-12 (Broncos), 2-14 (Panthers).

aside from just being able to run a full practice in crappy weather, i think it would be incredibly beneficial in helping the team prepare for non grassy and enclosed environments.

the artificial turf might not be a big deal but it could help them get more used to playing on a surface like fieldturf. it will be easier to get acclimated to.

a bigger deal would be in dealing with the sound that comes from playing under a roof or other structure that makes the field louder like you have at qualcomm (or whatever its called now in seattle). they could pipe in the sound (like I'm convinced a lot of these places do) and get cam and the OL and the rest of the team used to loud noise. it could really help their communication.

i think this should have been done a long time ago. and thats not just for the issues i brought up. its easy to spy on this team. i know the pres would get pissed at having the door closed on them but i think the team should always have at least one complete run thru prior to a game without being exposed to peeping eyes.
