Okay all you rule keeping, no common sense sheep.

Heeeere we go...

If this guy had been working at Newtowne, with a gun in his car, and had the balls, could he have ran to his car and back into the school waaaaaaaay before the cops got there?

Possibly.

Could he have saved a few kids from their fate?

Maybe.

His gun being kept in the car is probably the most prudent thing a teacher could do. What would all the well informed posters here say if he had been keeping the gun in the classroom? Guess you guys would have had a snide remark or two for that one also.

Probably.

Now then, could he have missed some shots & killed a few more kids? Could he have seen Chris Manfredonia, thought he was the shooter & killed him?

Corporate policies all the time state that no guns are allowed on person or in vehicles on company property. The fact this is a school makes it interesting as it is public property with special protections (speed limits, etc)

OK kids, in gym today you all are going to be shimmying under this barbed wire while live rounds are fired above your head. It's for your own good. Don't forget your safety helmets!

Honestly, probably not. There are to many questions. One, would he have had to travel past the gunman to get to where his car was parked? Two, how long would it take to realize what was going on? A combat trained soldier might realize immediately, but someone who just likes guns may or may not. And he would be facing a killer with a bushmaster rifle, and all he had was a pistol. It would have been a mismatch. And most of the people killed were in the first two classrooms and the office at the front. After that, the guy just went around looking for people to kill, but everyone barricaded themselves, so he was unable to find anyone. So I doubt he would have done much good.

All the talk about arming teachers makes me think of several teachers I knew with very bad tempers. I am not sure I would want any of them having guns.

How does having one gun and a knife equate to an infatuation with guns?

Poor journalism.

Also... A locking knife is illegal? Is it because it was a school campus?

In NC, your vehicle is your personal property, regardless of where it is parked.

Maybe so ... but http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML/BySection/Chapter_14/GS_14-269.2.html

To be clear, this is not a second amendment issue.

The second amendment gives you the right to own a gun. It does not say you can take it wherever you want without consequence.

Guns and other weapons are prohibited on most school campuses, including colleges -- so don't be bringing them here this summer!
