Maybe not the "cleanest" player but the best ever is Hendrix

Kurt Cobain?

Didn't he play the same 3 power chords in every song?

He wasnt even the best guitar player in Nirvana, Said himself that Dave Groel was a better guitar player. lol

Still haven't seen Peter Frampton..... Revolutionized the talk box
Neil Schon of Journey was playing with Santana when he was 15 years old.
Brad Paisley for a country guy is absolutely incredible

Eddie Hazel for me. Maggot brain is one of the best guitar solos ever.

Thank goodness I don't have Bwood around to tell me I'm talking out of my pay grade, but I aside from the obvious ones to me like Jimi, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Chuck Berry (although I was told by an experienced player that he ripped off all his stuff from another guy)... I love Lenny Kravitz and Dave Grohl's arrangements. That doesn't necessarily make them the best players, but they're good to me. I also appreciate Jack White's stuff. Very basic from my understanding but still awesome.

Musically its very subjective and there is no use in comparing personal preferences. In terms of technical skill some of my favorites are:

Yngwie Malmsteen
Jason Becker
Michael Romeo of Symphony X
Tom Hess and Dominique Leurquin of the Rhapsody bands

It's all about feeling to me. I don't really appreciate technical players that much, or list them higher than Dimebag, Hendrix, Stevie, ect because they bore me.
