Charles Woodson can still play, he was cut for cap reasons, not play. He can play both CB and S and can be had at a decent price.

Could just be a stop gap player at a position for a year or two and it would be nice to have some more veteran leadership on this defense.

You are very right. They should figure out a way to get him. If they picked him up and drafted some young guys our secondary could be set for ten years.

Even with the glut of players in the free agent market, elite athletes get elite pay. And the ones on the back end of thier careers want to play for a winning organization. We cannot provide either of those. We are not a contender for his services.

Byrd is on my wish list. And he just may be affordable. This year. Any prior year, not so much. This cap thingy is cool.

But wishfull thinking and speculation have nothing to do with the cap. Reality is for others to worry over. We are just a couple good deals from having some money to play with. Maybe not enough to sign Bowe or Woodson. But enough money to sign Canty and/or Byrd type players.

Sorry to ruin ur hopes but the Bills FO has been clearing cap space to resign Byrd (including by releasing his fellow starting safety George Wilson who is quite capable). Byrd is expected to get one of the larger contracts for a safety.

Elite players get better money. Even is this strange year. Was just hoping the market would allow us to offer him a fair deal. Would he take it? Probably not. But hey, a guy can dream. That is the one thing the wife hasn't taken yet. My ability to dream.

If there was anyway possible to clear enough money for him (and I think he would go for around 5 mil per), he would be my number one priority this offseason and I'd put him at S. After him, I would probably want Sean Smith, but I doubt we create enough space for either of them.

It is just not going to happen. We have a hard road to unwind the cap mess we have.
