Injuries start to hit Canes hard

13 posts in this topic

This thread originally was intended to be a thread for Tim Gleason heading to IR, but things just keep getting worse.

The Canes will be without Tuomo Ruutu, Joni Pitkanen, Tim Gleason, Jeff Skinner, and Tim Brent against the Habs tonight.

On call-up duty we have MJ (Michal Jordan) for Pitkanen/Gleason, Riley Nash for Jeff Skinner, and Jeremy Welsh for Tim Brent...

Pitkanen and Gleason have been placed on IR to make room for Nash and Welsh.

This game could get ugly.

Well this sucks. D was already weak and just got weaker. We're gonna have to trade for someone now. Hopefully Yandle.

I think he was just placed on IR so they could make room for Nash. He should be good to go by the 21st (his eligible date to return).

We'll be short-manned tonight on both ends. The first line needs to catch fire early and Cam needs to play lights out.

Apparently I don't know the IR rules for hockey

Yea - IR in hockey is only 7 days. They put him on their retroactively to bring up Nash, but he is eligible for Thursday's game.

NFL IR rules really need to be amended honestly.

I didn't know them either lol. Someone on HF Boards said that the tweet was that he was placed on IR on Feb 12th, and in hockey you are eligible to return after seven days.

Canes will be without Ruutu (obviously), Pitkanen, Gleason, Skinner, and Brent.

MJ fills in for Pitkanen/Gleason, Riley Nash fills in for Skinner, and Welsh fills in for Brent.

    • We always seem to hold him in check. He would have been a better fit here honestly.
    • There was a rash of this sort of activity 10 or 15 years ago where several dozen kids entered retail stores and just took whatever they wanted for a couple of minutes and then scrammed before the police could arrive. These types of crimes are going to be coming to an end in the near future with the increasing number of cameras and improvement of biometrics.   Not only will we be able to identify the perps, it might be able to determine their intent prior to them being able to carry out their crimes. face-and-read-your-mind
