Wait...what?

One of the major gun-control efforts in Olympia this session calls for the sheriff to inspect the homes of assault-weapon owners. The bill’s backers say that was a mistake.
Forget police drones flying over your house. How about police coming inside, once a year, to have a look around?

As Orwellian as that sounds, it isn’t hypothetical. The notion of police home inspections was introduced in a bill last week in Olympia.
Was it really a mistake?

Someone put "inpections" in the bill's text...as if that makes it better.

If you want to own an assault weapon then deal with it.

How about a compromise?

Legalize weed in exchange for such unnecessary gun control policies.

While we're at it...let's do this for people that are prescribed pain medications to track usage and whether they are distributing or not.

Sound good? It's for the greater good.

Isn't it legal in WA?

Why yes it is...

Is it an illegal search and seizure if they say "hey instead of outlawing these guns completely if you want to own them please be prepared to have your home inspected once a year"

Why not do this with everyone who signs up for disability, welfare of any kind? You take the cash, then we can drop by anytime.

Seems pretty cut and dry that it is unconsitutional. Just because nothing is "siezed" doesn't make "searching" allowable.

Nothing to see here....

Don't worry you guys, it's for the "greater good", we know what is best for you. We will help you with everything. We just want to make sure that you are safe.

This is political masturbation.

All of the "backers" of this know that it wont pass constitutional muster and so it doesn't matter. Vote for the bill to appear to be tough on guns and do it with the clear conscious that comes with knowing it will be struck down.

The bigger issue is that they are wasting time with this kind of grandstanding bullshit and not doing what needs to be done to run the state of Wa.

Do you know what the actual difference is between the "hunting" rifle and the "assault" rifle?

Would nothing be = to: Hunting, varmint control, hobby, competition, self defense?

Oh they didn't include it because you cant put sport under one and then act like an AR doesn't have a valid use beyond killing people.

You want to see a valid use for AR? Join the Army. Other than that, there is none

As much as you may not want it to be shooting targets is in fact a valid use.

The Army does not use the AR. This is what I mean when asking you if you know the difference in the two rifles.

The weapon system that the Army uses is nothing like the guns that are available to civilians.

And yes, there are plenty of uses of the AR 15 type rifle.

Talking in general when referring to the assault rifle. M16 is an Assault Rifle

The AR in the AR-15 does not stand for Assault Rifle.

The M-16 is a fully automatic rifle, something that we, as civilians, unless under extreme circumstances cannot purchase.

I understand that. But it's an assault rifle. If you need it to hunt animals, you need another hobby.
