when messageboard people meet irl it's usually awkward and quiet as fug even if they're cool with each other

Honestly that has never really been the case for the Huddle.
Some exemptions of course, but peeps have usually been really cool when I met them.
That said, football and the board are common subjects of conversation.

That has not been my experience at all.
The first person I met in person from this site was J2sgam, we went to a game together and had a blast (and have done that twice more since)... I've met Kurb for lunch multiple times... I've met catfang for lunch... pstall has come to my office to meet me and MCP... I've been to boo's house and met her cat and know her bf very well now... I met Panthro, Zod, jase, pstall, kbred, bleys, zcustom and his wife, and skew at Huddle Jamz 2... I met MPF, scrum and numerous huddlers at several tailgates... I stayed at Saltman's hotel with my family, great guy irl... Never met LiaG or Dan in person, but talk to her on fb and she sent me cookies after my surgery...
Never an awkward moment... you guys should get out more.

I picture everyone wearing stickers from office depot that say hi my username is _________ and making awkward references to pie and rep

I personally think the GS conflict is heavily inflated to shifting methods in communicative methods as stylized by message board subsets, exacerbated by generational gaps. dude is probably not the sniveling need you make him out to be irl
Frankly I think that's an excuse and a poor one and this is why.
He is the only one like that on the board.
I don't really agree with Zula about anything in the tinderbox, but have had several enjoyable, adult conversations with him via PM and in other forums... he told me all about being a film studies student at UNCW when I asked because my oldest is interested in that field. Zula is (by all accounts) half my age and seems to have a good sense of humor. I may not agree with him, but can get along... Cantrell, not so much.
I definitely do think that Cantrell's huddle "persona" is an attempt to take out his angst for a system that is completely disagreed with... I just don't understand why there's so much anger and hate directed at anyone and everyone who dares question anything that's said.

when mb users meet each other for the first time irl it is the epitome of awkward
this is scientific law and not arguable
You should write a scientific paper on it then... with video clips.

every moment meeting Jase IRL is an awkward moment.
Mainly because I'm so handsome.
Well there's that... plus the fact that you don't really talk. (Talking poo on the basketball court doesn't count)
