Obama's world (sequestration)

For every liberal that used the "republicans won't touch their special interests (defense)", well...they can sthu.

Obama proved he's incapable of making hard decisions regarding spending cuts. It's more taxes...not two months after the largest tax increase in history.

Is this the best g5 quote ever? I mean, simultaneously giving repubs credit for cutting defense spending while blaming obama for not making any cuts, all while claiming obama is 100% responsible for the sequestration?

The level of cognitive dissonance is truly extraordinary

That is patently false.

You look at the largest tax increases and it has been primarily Republican presidents who have been in office. This is in order of biggest to smallest tax increases by % of GDP in "recent" years

1968- Johnson (this was a one year, temporary tax hike)

1982- Reagan

1993- Clinton

1990- Bush

1980- Reagan

1984- Reagan

2012- Obama's ACA

1986- Reagan

1969 Nixon

1987- Reagan

1983- Reagan

Yeah, Reagan and Bush account for 7 of the 11 biggest tax hikes in history.

But that was back when being a Republican was more about fiscal responsibility and not just the no tax party

Ony when you quantify it against % of GDP.

It would seem to me that when something such as sequestration takes effect most presidents would be trying to reassure the public that the sky is not falling, telling us everything will be OK, that we can get thru this together.

Why is this president doing the exact opposite of that?

Because he is trying to create political consequences for the Republicans for not negotiating in good faith, and if he is reassuring the public everything is going to be okay and we fall into another recession he and the Democratic party would take the brunt of the blame and Republicans would frame it as Obama's economic policies caused the recession, which is clearly not true.

Obama is as much responsible for sequestration as Bush Sr was for raising taxes.

Ony when you quantify it against % of GDP.

Which is the only appropriate way to really measure tax increases.

Ask Woodward about "good faith" negotiations. You live in Bizarro World

Republicans DID negotiate in good faith. Sequestration was about the cuts during the negotiations while giving Obama a higher debt ceiling.

Obama got his tax revenue increase at taxmageddon.

Obama's moved the goalpost.

Yes, why is the obama admin not negotiating in good faith with bob woodward?

These are the questions that need to be asked.

Also- how much sand is in bob woodward's vagina?

Obama is as much responsible for sequestration as Bush Sr was for raising taxes.

That was a negotiated tax increase between Bush Sr. and Democratic congress. It was a compromise budget to fight off the growing deficits. He had to do it. And to his credit, he did. And paid for it.

I hope not, because that was a complete non-story
