and most people SUPPORT the sequester, despite President Chicken Little.

Serious question- is that actually what you think the article says?

Poll...

The public by nearly 2-1, 61-33 percent, supports cutting the overall budget along the lines of the sequester that took effect last Friday. But by nearly an identical margin, Americans in this ABC News/Washington Post poll oppose an eight percent across-the-board cut in military spending.

Seems defense spending is where most people are against.

And he owned it.

Who's being the b now.

Not sure what you are trying to say. I love George Bush Sr. and especially love Reagan. The problem is, this Republican party doesn't represent what those guys stood for anymore which is why I left it.

And the sequestering is and always has been about deficit reduction, which anyone telling you the truth will tell you that the only way to truly do that is through both increased revenue and spending cuts. One or the other won't do it, or would hurt the economy too severely.

Poll...

Seems defense spending is where most people are against.

The poll was asking if people supported an overall spending cut equal to the sequester. Once they started asking people if they supported the cuts that were actually made by the sequester, people no longer supported it.

If the summary of that is that the public supports the sequester, then...

this happens at the local level. people are pushed into a corner about tax increases or the library will be closed or fireman Mike will have to get on food stamps.

the govt will sensationalize something to drum up fear due to stupidity and the masses fall for it time and time again.

maybe job losses and things falling apart that quickly sort of expose how horribly ran some of these areas are ran. nah. nobody will look at it like that. not with political party glasses.

or maybe "job losses and things falling apart that quickly sort of expose how horribly" underfunded most government programs (that don't involve jailing minorities or blowing up the middle east) already are

in other news

Democratic Florida Congressman Alan Grayson told HuffPost Live on Friday that he believes the automatic spending cuts triggered by sequestration should be replaced with a bill to immediately end the war in Afghanistan.

"Listen, we're facing a nine percent cut in the food stamps program, a nine percent cut in home heating oil programs, nine percent cut in civil aeronautics, nine percent cuts in all sort of things that people actually use in their everyday lives -- and we'd save the same amount of money if we simply ended the war in Afghanistan now," Grayson told HuffPost Live host Alyona Minkovski.

"What's the point?" Grayson continued. "Can't we at least make intelligent choices and get our priorities straight?"
Grayson said his amendment, which was blocked by Republicans before it could go to a vote, would call for ending the war in 30 days, unless President Barack Obama felt this would put American servicemen and women's lives at risk.

We're leaving anyways, it's going to be about as messed up there as when we came in, so yeah there is some kind of logic there if we were really serious about cuts.
