beason's cap hit is $9.5mil, but it would cost $12mil to cut him (again, divided between two years).
we can't afford to keep him and beason around. there's really no need to do that. anderson would be cheaper to unload. beason's a much better player and more important as a leader than anderson. beason's more than likley going to be redoing his contract to make it less of a cap hit and it will be more in line with what a MLB whose missed two years of play would be getting from anywhere else. i doubt that even if he redoes his deal that there's enough cap space to keep both around.
the 2mil we'd save from cutting him this year and next might not seem like a lot, but in the big picture it really helps.
