This roster needs another receiver with dreadlocks.

Please Miami, sign Wallace or Jennings!

looks like he could pass for dwill's taller younger brother.

when i first made a quick glance of him talking to mike craft, i thought for a second it was deangelo.

Jesus christ I can't say nothing about the kid without you being butt hurt about it.

Julio cut off his locks for that reason is all I was trying to say.

So the question needs to be asked...

Do we trade up for him, if it appears he will be gone by 14?

My initial thoughts are obviously no, too many other holes, yada yada. A lot of this depends on how successful we can be in FA plugging holes, but I also don't think ATL is crying over their Julio trade. And I doubt we would have to give up anything close to that to jump a couple of spots to grab him.

Honestly for a while I was an advocate of drafting almost every other need besides WR early. I even made a lengthy thread highlighting why I believed the Panthers wouldn't select a receiver in the first two rounds.

However, Patterson possesses all the natural talent you can't teach. He has an elusiveness and vision in the open field that reminds me of Chris Johnson. He hits the hole on kick and punt returns at full speed and is a threat to go the distance every time the ball is in his hands. He makes the first tackler miss almost every time and often the second pursuer just ends up looking silly trying to bring him down. He brings the ability to run out of the backfield and add even more wrinkles to account for and a defense cannot possibly ignore him.

He is raw from a receiving standpoint. His routes are pretty sloppy and he lets the ball get into his body too often when catching. However, these things can all be coached up and improved upon fairly quickly. I trust Ricky Proehl to develop Cordarrelle and watching 89 for a year or two would be beneficial for his development.

Patterson's upside is through the roof. At this stage in his career we need to begin to build around Cam Newton because the offense and this team's success goes as Cam does. I do not think he will go top 10...if he makes it by Miami I believe we will pull the trigger assuming he tears up the combine as I suspect he will.

Why can't I just have a Patterson, Floyd and Swearinger all in one draft?

Personally, I would be tempted to trade up a few spots to ensure we got the most explosive offensive player in the draft (assuming we knew someone like the Phins were going to take him).

However, I doubt our new GM would do it. He has expressed an intent to go about things with a mind to the future -- not making decisions at the expense of our future. He seems averse to trading up if it would cost much.

I really hope he is available at 14 and we select him.

Who the f*ck dreams of playing for the Panthers as a kid unless they grew up in the Carolinas...?

Me.. O_O

EDIT: And while I highly doubt patterson will be available at 14, if he is ill be screaming his name out come draft time

LOL, its crazy how one interview can hop more people on the bandwagon including me. Every little thing this guy does is gonna improve his stock and hype. By the time the draft gets here everybody is gonna be drooling over Patterson. Even if we dont get him i think another great player will be sitting there.
