rashard anderson, biakabatuka, kerry collins, carruth, peters...pretty much everyone drafted in the first round before hurney/fox

This. Drafts used to be a big "so what" for the Panthers. In the 90s, our first rounders were:

Kerry Collins - here for a few seasons before killing the locker room and quitting
Tyrone Poole - lasted three years before leaving for Indianapolis
Blake Brockermeyer - A pretty forgettable tackle who battled injuries for four seasons before we let him leave in Free Agency
Tim Biakabutuka - Played in 50 games over 6 seasons, and scored only 14 touchdowns over that time.
Rae Carruth - Even if he hadn't been a murderer, he was still a crappy NFL receiver who wouldn't start on our current roster.
Jason Peter - Gave us three injury-filled, 'roided up seasons.
Rashard Anderson - Never started, and played just one year before getting cut after violating the league's substance abuse policy
Dan Morgan - A tackling machine, he couldn't stay healthy. Played in 59 games over 7 seasons.

What's funny is, Hurney could never draft a second rounder who stuck (Kalil excepted), but before he got here, our second rounders included Muhsin Muhammad, Mike Minter, Mike Rucker, Deon Grant, and Kris Jenkins.

Here's to hoping that Gettleman drafts like Hurney in the first, and Capers/Seiffert in the second. :)

Jason Peter or Tim Biakabatuka.

Biakabatuka was not a bust per se, the man got hurt after being markedly effective.

The same goes for Dan Morgan.

Go back and look at the very next pick after what we gave up for Gilbert....ouch!

That said, recently, it's probably EB, AE, or Shelton.
