Yay! I hope this pans out. I understand the realities of the cap, but I really, really like having both Deangelo and Stewart int he backfield together.

Deangelo is the best back on the team. If we cut him this year the cap hit will still equate to us having one of the highest backfields in the NFL.

It is literally cheaper to keep D-will than cut him. 9.6 million immediate cap for cutting him or we can keep him for 8.2 million. Not that hard of a decision.

If we did a June 1st cut and spread the 9.6 over 2 years then we only save 3.4 million this year but carry over dead weight of 4.6 million next year.

Let him play this year and then we can have more flexibility to cut him(immediate savings of 3.8 million in 2014 without doing it as June 1st cut or have even more flexiblity to get him to restrucuture assuming its not done this year.

Good move, keeping D Will is gonna be essential in making the playoffs letting him go will hurt us. The offensive line is a bigger issue. If it doesnt workout this year we will be changing up our RB stable and coaching staff.

Gettleman, Shurmur, and Rivera have all talked about wanting to get rid of the read-option as the primary attack. I'm glad to have D-Will back for probably one last year. He still has it in him to get 100 yard+ games.

If it can work within the cap and not screw is down the road, fine I suppose. Deangelo just needs to get on his horse sooner. He takes so long to get going every season.
