Your kitty is a grease spot on the road. Nothing more.

who's making light of it? 57B ppl in hell is pretty dark. it raises a lot of serious theological implications. i'm sure you can see that

That, and the Christian God is omnipotent and all-knowing, so He knew that that would all end up in Hell. Nice guy huh?

the christian response would be that without free will man is just an automaton and that free will is the greatest act of love god could give. i'm not sure that's sufficient, as any god with any wisdom would know that varying factors would contribute to the fall of at least one man. why raise the stakes that high at all?

it just doesn't make sense

i just can't see how free will and all-knowing can coexist. Either he knows that you will go to hell or he doesn't. they can't have it both ways.

God may know. it's the humans who can't predict the future.

look how many people died young due to a lack of medicine or advancement of tech etc.

our eyes are on the front of our face for a reason. to look ahead. we can wring our hands over things we have no control over that is in the past of find a way to make it better in the future.

Theological fatalism, it's one of my favorite arguments because I've never heard it even a little bit successfully argued against.

Some might even say our eyes evolved that way because we eat other animals

yeah there is a wee bit of southern baptisty type going on. the church i have gone to for close to 20 yrs now has not once gone into hellfire and damnation mode.

God's love, redemption, forgiveness is a much better carrot.

So do you not believe non christians are going to hell? Just because your church doesn't talk about it much doesn't mean it's not apart of theirs or your theology.

edit: That last sentence makes me wanna puke. "A much better carrot" yeah lets talk about all the feel good stuff and ignore all the terrible immoral poo that comes along with our beliefs. Too manipulative for my taste.

pretty simple actually for cat. would she rather motivate her son by loving him or beating him over the head with the way she wants him to be.

all this stuff isn't as complicate as some make it out to be.
