Will Charlotte ever take the Hornets name back now that NOLA is changing their name?

I know it would cost a lot to re brand and all that, but i think it would be great for the city of charlotte.

It's going to happen after the season, before the Draft. MJ isn't dumb.

MJ is going to make more in return by rebranding.

He's new, cut him some slack.

Welcome to the Huddle and yes, yes we are getting the name back.

call me superstitious but can we not be so over confident that it will happen. Don't want to jinx it.

I'm curios as to when's the soonest they can become the hornets. Could they change over this off season since the name is already owned by the league and still has merchandise and so forth.

Seems they could fast track the deal and let the bobcats become the hornets the upcoming year

my guess nothing can be made officail until after New Orleans is officially renamed. which wont happened until after the regular season is over.

I think they will do it in the 2014 offseason. I have no evidence, but I think that makes the most sense. Unless MJ is tired of the attendance and merch sales and hopes/thinks that a rebrand will bring more $ next year. However, as far as a brand goes, I think it would be best to wait until we have a competitive team (2014-15 season) before rebranding. You don't want even a single season of crappiness to be stuck with a brand.

    • At this point I think the question of whether CAP is going to be a productive NFL player at all is probably a valid one.

    • I didn't say that I grouped kids and dogs in the same category, you assumed that. Of course I value my kid's life over my dog's, but I'll value the life of either over the life of someone threatening them. Seems like the pro-Vick/anti-dog crowd can't help themselves to try to bend over backwards to create arguments that haven't actually been made. As for your property statement, yes dogs are property that can be bought and sold, but I bet no one's ever been sent to prison for abusing couches. Dogs certainly have more protection under the law than standard property. You're free to place whatever value on a dog's life that you will. You'll notice that I haven't tried to lecture anyone on how they should view a dog, I'm simply stating my own personal views.
