Why in the world would someone care what happens to Gettis if we signed an elite WR
Because he was good at one time with shitty QBs. I just don't understand what happened to that guy.

People on this board have been hyping up Gettis since 2010.

Of course you're going to take the BPA within reason. I don't believe any of the players that you listed above are sure-fire picks at their position. No Andrew Lucks this year. If a high caliber player that is pretty much a consensus "generational" player at a position drops to you for whatever reason---a player that is heads and shoulders above everyone else at not only their position but also light years ahead of others at their respective positions, you better take him. You can worries about the particulars later. When differences become a little more clouded, then you can start worrying about balance and depend upon your best guesstimates in regards to the value of particular players and how they will fit into your overall team/scheme and plan for success. As the draft moves into the later rounds it seems to me that it would be more about value, and finding possible diamonds in the rough to add depth and fill out your roster where there may be less obvious, but suspected issues on the horizon.
We're good at QB and RB for presumably years to come, so we would never draft those positions right now, unless we already were working out a draft day trade (and remember that it's believed that good RBs come a dime per dozen now). Mind you, there would have to be a unique situation or need on both sides of the equation for two teams to come up with trades on draft day, but it does happen.
Yeah, I agree. That isn't BPA drafting. That is filling needs and assessing value drafting.
We shouldn't even have QB, RB (if we indeed keep D-Will), DE, or LB on our draft boards the first two rounds except for the reason that they may fall to the third where it would be a good value.
I understand the point that you don't want to draft a guy that you have a second round grade on in the first just to fill a need. But you also don't want to draft a guy that doesn't have a chance of supplanting a guy that is already in place just because he is the BPA.

Bc over investing at one spot doesn't make you a better team.Do people not wonder why the Steelers, a very successful franchise, are not aggressively trying to keep Wallace?

Sexy pick in FA, less sexy RT in the first round.

i would rather address WR in Free Agency than the Draft unless it is Keenan Allen or C. Patterson.

Yea a lot of people hyped him up pretty good. Which in all honesty some of it was true. That route he ran against San Fran for the TD got me out of my seat. The dude just had potential.

Agree completely. We will have to fill some of the non glamorous needs via free agency ( guard and defensive tackle maybe second tier safety)and draft the sexy expensive picks.I like Wallace, but he's going to cost a ton of money. Probably would rather us go WR first in the draft.

DTs are needed.
Ask yourself, if Jordan Gross, goes down, then what? Gross is long in the tooth has had his nicks, appeared to have lost a step this year, could have been too his LG didn't know what he was doing too; but, still. Gross goes down, bad things happen. Very bad things, Newton's blindside.
Free agency best address that OL because as we saw against better quality competition, it is abysmal.

Those three catches were thrown by Jimmy.
Steve couldnt even catch this guys passes.
That and the fact it was one of only a few positive things we could take from that season, ultimately culmenated into a kind of cult following.

That's how I see it.
If true, it might indicate Gettleman's not overly impressed with our current stable.
heh it could mean that they are looking at steeler players, not necessarily Wallace and not necessarily a WR.
