Alex Smith was traded to the Chiefs for two second round picks. The 49ers now have 15 picks in this years draft... Yes that's right FIFTEEN. Since the 49ers need help in their secondary they could be looking to trade up for someone like Vaccaro or Rhodes. Your thoughts?
This report says that without the compensatory picks which have not been determined yet, San Fran has 12 picks not 15. They got 2 seconds but one is for this year while the other is a conditional pick in 2014.

They should be. Alex Smith is not worth that. He's getting older and has been poo until Harbaugh got to SF. No reason to think he won't digress back to his past form.

Not sure where this 15 draft picks is coming from but ESPN says they have 11..
I think they are anticipating something like 3 or 4 compensation picks.

Good point. There seems to be no consensus right now as to their actual number of picks.

I have to agree with them. They know how Cassell looked coming in from that Patriot system.
Remember when Alex Smith was shopping himself in free agency last year and nobody would bite?

I don't think Smith is a franchise guy, but he can get the Chiefs moving in the right direction and they can make a move for a franchise player next year or year after when there is more talent.

The Chiefs will regret passing up on Geno Smith for years to come.
What makes you think Chiefs still wont draft Geno Smith? Geno is very raw and not ready to start.

Who's dumb enough to take Geno over Jockel or Fisher when you have Alex already?

LOL!
The guy was universally labled a bust for 5-6 years until they got the pieces around him. He's a very efficient QB when he has a top 5 RB, maybe the best OL, maybe the best TE, and maybe the best defense in the NFL....and they still took a guy over him based off a 8 game resume. LOL.
The niners should be charged with larceny based on the fact they got a 2nd rounder for him. Wow.

I think Alex Smith will do well in KC with Reid to mentor him. Look at how Reid took Vick and actually made him a legitimate player. hee also made Kolb look better than he was. KC has a decent defense and a good running game. Wouldn't be surprised to see kC make a big jump this year in wins.
Yup. KC can def be a sleeper team.
