Very true. Silatolu held his own for a rookie from a tiny school. He made some all rookie teams. Mentally though having a seasoned vet next to him was a help. I guess with Kalil back he'd still have that presence to lean on.A long ways to go up until last year. This year Silatolu could play at an All-Pro level you never know. Byron Bell got a lot better his 2nd year
What positions are a must to upgrade?

I think we definitely need to shore up our secondary going in to 2013.

As for the guard and tackle position, I suspect we will bring in some guys but there are a bunch of guys who will be obtainble for not that much. Unless Warmack drops, I doubt we go guard early in the draft. I would suspect we go either NT or LT in the draft at 14. Maybe Patterson if he is there but that is the only non-linemen I think they consider unless there is a run at some position or the other. The linemen are the class of this draft early and will likely be the BPAs at 14.

If none of the above fit the bill at #14, I'd be trying to trade down as the first option unless something somewhat unforeseen were to happen like Star Lotulelei slipping to #14. DT and DB would be the only defensive positions I'd want to take at #14.

IMO, we have to build around Cam Newton. If there's an elite WR prospect there at #14, take him. Steve Smith isn't going to last forever and the rest of our WR corps is nothing special. I think LaFell is a solid WR, but he's no #1, that's for sure. Beyond LaFell, we have nothing but a bunch of hopes and dreams, nothing proven. If there isn't an elite WR prospect available, I'd be looking at OL next. 14 is pretty high for an OG, but if the staff feels that Warmack is worth the pick and he's there, then go for it. OT isn't out either. Gross isn't getting any younger and Bell could be upgraded. Our OL is simply not very good. If Cam wasn't a mobile QB, they'd be getting exposed badly. He makes them look better than they are. Just look at Double Trouble's numbers. We know what those RBs can do, but they couldn't do poo behind our OL.

That's the problem there isn't a elite WR in this draft. There is no Fitz, Megatron, AJ green, or Julio Jones in this draft. Somebody will reach in the top 15 because they need a WR. I just hope it isn't us.

How do you no if any of these wrs won't be an elite player at the next level? Did people view cam as an elite qb? No he was viewed as a raw qb coming out of a simple college offense. If gettleman thinks wr is the pick at 14 I'm good with it.That's the problem there isn't a elite WR in this draft. There is no Fitz, Megatron, AJ green, or Julio Jones in this draft. How the fug do you know they are? I go by scouts talk, film, college production, and physical skills. There isn't a player in this draft over 6'3 that has 3 years of elite college production and elite physical talent. If there was like Lim says we wouldn't be in position to get him. And please stop using Cam as your example. Beyond the fact he was a physical freak for his position that had never been seen before. He was coming off the greatest season any College QB had ever had and lead a team that went unranked the next year to a undefeated season (in the hardest conference in college football) and a national championship. Has any WR in this draft done that? If not then stop using him as a example.

Now I'll agree with you but unless we trade down or get really lucky in the 2nd I don't see it happening

UT?? What?
Yes, if we can't resign Dwan. No, if we can.
NT > UT
As i am sure you know DEdwards is a FA and I doubt we get much of a hometown discount given we only signed him for a year
