Are you kidding me? Now you're just being silly.

Easiest way to see who is right against who is wrong is go directly off of team's depth charts, not based off of opinion. So let's take a look shall we...

Julio Jones, Sidney Rice, Antonio Brown, Victor Cruz, Justin Blackmon, and Jeremy Maclin are all listed as one's based on teams depth chart's.

Because there are no WR2 or WR3 that are a significant upgrade over what we have.

Patterson, Allen, and possibly Austin (as a slot, think Smith and Welker) could all be number one's.

I don't think that us as football forum geniuses can say with all surety that Barden would not be a significant upgrade over what we have (like we have so much). Anyway, like I alluded to, Patterson, Allen and Austin will be gone before we pick in round 2, so if we don't pull the trigger, we aren't getting a WR1 from the draft unless we get lucky (much like we did with 89).

Well, since you are more concerned with being right, on a technicality, let me tell you that you are absolutely correct. You deserve a cookie. But... then let's take the earlier list and take the ones that apparently aren't technically listed as WR1s and add, Roddy White, Golden Tate, Mike Wallace, Hakeem Nicks, Cecil Shorts, and Desean Jackson. I suppose you think that LaFell can currently take his place among that number...?

Come on, dude.

Manningham was with San Fran last year and Nicks was alway hurt. The Giants gave up on Barden when they drafted a wide out in the 1st or 2nd (whatever it was) last year.

Exactly. Even with manningham gone and nicks hurt, they still played Hixon over Barden. I'd love to give him a shot in camp, but some of you guys are getting awfully defensive while backing this guy up. He has done literally nothing in his time in the league, and it has little to do with his place on the depth chart.

I don't see why not, you have to remember that we had a tight end that took a lot of receptions/yards/touchdowns away from our wide receivers. If I'm not mistaken, Greg Olsen was third in receiving yards this year for tight ends.

Also, I wouldn't put DeSean Jackson on that list... just for reference.

I haven't seen where anyone in the thread that has gotten defensive while backing Barden up. Like you, I am saying that perhaps we should give they guy a shot in camp because it really can't hurt. If we don't, then who really gives a fug? No one has said that Barden is Jerry Rice, Sidney Rice, or worth a box of Uncle Ben's rice.

i think i'm the only one who wants to hang onto louis murphy. if we're going to add anyone it needs to be a top tier receiver like wallace or jennings.

I would say Weymouth St's response was very defensive.

To your first remark: Becuase LaFell has never consistently been able to carry his team like Roddy White, Golden Tate, Mike Wallace, Hakeem Nicks, Cecil Shorts, or Desean Jackson have shown the ability to do when their WR1 (as listed on the web site as you so correctly pointed out) was receiving double coverage, out, or just not having a good day. To be blunt, I would say that everyone other than Tate is a quasi WR1 (which is really the point), but even Tate is better than LaFell when you look at his impact on the team.

Regarding D-Jax, he logically should be included in the list. You do see what I did with the list, right? The list was really a product of your own making.

I'd take Barden over Murphy in a damn minute.

It's hard to argue Lafell's production against other team's "#2"s. Lafell is a true #2 for us. Most of those players you listed there come from teams with two comparable receivers at #1 and #2. We have a superstar (albeit an aging one) at #1 with no one really close to him. So of course the drop-off in production from Smith to Lafell is gonna be pretty substantial compared to these other teams with 2 comparable receivers that can split the targets.

this statement screams that the WR position needs to be upgraded. if your #2 cannot take over then he should not be a #2.
