Why would Cam be the highest paid?
Honestly....and this may get some people butt hurt.....we will probably have to make him the highest paid QB to keep him here.
But these are a few reasons I am pondering...
1) he knew that he wasn't the panthers first choice in his draft (Luck)
2) his first impression of JR is was the guy who spear headed the players lockout
3) JR pulled him into his office on day 1 and told him not to get tattoos, etc... and who knows what other wacky things he said to him
4) the panthers are still a young, unaccomplished franchise (when comparing to 49ers, Steelers, Pats, Etc...)
5) Charlotte is a smaller market, with a horrible sports history
6) our inbred local media has proven that they cannot handle a Superstar in the city
These are just to name a few, go ahead and disagree with me, I don't care, it's the truth

Why is that? Bc we don't him to be?Gettleman doesn't seem like the type to be bullied into a crazy contract like that so hopefully we don't have too much to worry about.

I still do not see how someone who averages 20td passes a year, never thrown for 4k, and averages 60% is the highest paid when there's QBs that year after year throw for 4,500+, 35-45tds, and also win Super Bowls. Just doesn't add up.
They were better off franchising him and see if be can replicate the success. Now they're stuck with him whether or not he sucks for the remainder of his contract.

Because he preaches paying players what they're worth. Cam isn't worth that much money without hardware in the trophy case.

He could hear that cash register sound on every pass in the superbowl.

Losing like 8 starters will make him look bad next season.
