Jimmy Fallon is replacing Jay Leno

There can be only one really old late night show host, too many of the demographic are asleep by then. At least Letterman has a few good writers. I hope Fallon gets it, he's pretty funny and topical.

After seeing him host Lately, Dave Grohl should get his own show. Make it like the US version of Jools Holland mixed in with his shenanigans

not a bad idea but doing a show night in and night out can drain the creative batteries some. Grohl in random guest host appereances would be just as sweet. i wouldn't want him to get over saturated.

but he is totally cool funny dude.

Yeah, sounds familiar.

Not that big a fan of Fallon, honestly.

Next up Letterman, he is terrible!

Absolutely awful, but CBS seems content with him for some reason.

Craig Ferguson is overrated, his act gets tiring.

I've seen Grohl host Lately as well, he's very charismatic.

Looks like Howard Stern could be in line for the Late Night spot if Fallon moves to the Tonight Show.

I never liked either of them. Loathe Leno, but I despise letterman. He's just not funny at all. Leno has had his moments, but again, nothing for me. Conan was always awesome.

To me right now, Craig Furgeson is the best at the moment. The guy is hilarious and talks to the guests, it's not scripted. It's enjoyable.

Kimmel is a bit forced for me but tolerable. Fallon is cool. He's not great but not horrible.

Its official

(CNN) -- On Wednesday, Jay Leno confirmed the rampant reports that he's once again departing "The Tonight Show," presumably for good this time.

He'll wrap up his 22-year run as host in spring 2014, with Jimmy Fallon officially signing on as his replacement.

"Congratulations Jimmy," Leno said. "I hope you're as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you're the old guy. If you need me, I'll be at the garage."

According to a statement from NBC, "As part of the transition, 'The Tonight Show' will be returning to its original home in 30 Rock in New York" from Leno's base of Los Angeles.

The expectation that he would leave NBC's legendary late-night program has been building recently. NBC execs told The Hollywood Reporter and The New York Times in early March that Leno was going to be out and someone else, most likely "Late Night" host Fallon, was going to be in.

With Leno's contract set to expire in fall 2014, industry observers said, the move was only a matter of time.
