Mitch Hedberg on the beauty of escalators: "An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You would never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience.”

You can also do this on escalators

This is JR's vision for the future.

Pat Mccrory is a dick-less, spineless, breast fed, backstabbing, corporate slave in a fuging suit. Like I said, enjoy that increase on your power bill every month. He'll have no problem giving Duke energy what they want, he'll get on his knees for those frauds.

Of course he's going to give Duke Power the rate increase because it helps his pockets. lol He owns over 10,000 dollars in stock and they heavily funded his past two campaigns. Add on the fact that he worked for Duke for nearly 30 years.

In addition to having received generous campaign contributions from Duke Energy (the company, its political action committee, employees, and their families donated over $240,000 to McCrory’s 2008 and 2012 gubernatorial campaigns and to the state Republican Party since he became the party’s nominee, according to a recent report by the liberal advocacy group Progress NC), McCrory worked for the company for 28 years, starting out digging ditches and eventually making his way to a position as senior adviser with Duke’s Business and Economic Development Group before retiring in 2007 to run for governor.

http://aflcionc.org/...-r-duke-energy/

To go even further into that, his team under him in office is comprised of past Duke employees that consider Duke Chairman Bill Lee a mentor. The Duke hike is a done deal, it was when Mccory was elected.

It's a complete conflict of interest and if it does pass he should be kicked out of office as far as I'm concerned. It's also a complete sham that the State doesn't have the money for the Panther stadium upgrades and he knows it.

Interesting stadium funding report. I was curious how often the state is or is not involved.

There are dozens of ways to get the funding. I'm not worried that the state of NC is saying no.

why do people keep posting that it's "not the state's responsibility" when one of the main problems here is that raleigh deep sixed what was supposed to be a local tax hike that was designed to raise the majority of the revenue.

it says in the article in the OP that the proposed prepared food + other stuff tax was intended to raise $144 million but was not approved by the legislature.

Only read the first and last pages of the thread so far, but it involves Mitch Hedberg. Has to be full of win.

It's a long read, but worth it for any actually interested in this situation:

Basically, the Panthers don't need anything from North Carolina, they just want it and hope they can leverage it.

They refused both. Instead they want the Panthers to use the existing tax which would generate $110 million instead of $144. So you have won at both levels.

Poor people should get off their lazy asses and get a job. Glad Pat is cutting their wages. Tired of my tax money going to those idiots.

Before opening your mouth know some of the people that are affected by Pat lowering benefits. This past year the US Army contract that I have worked on for 7 years just dropped from 230 people to 23 people in the last 6 months alone. These people worked their asses off for 7 years only to get slapped in the face by an asshole that lowers benefits but gives his entire cabinet pay raises as soon as his ass got into office.

Now those say 207 people can’t afford to feed their family or pay their bills and the job market still sucks in the state and country. By the way they have been tax payers for the last 15 to 30 years of their lives as well. Most of them spent the last 20-25 years of their lives giving you the right to talk poo about people you know nothing of. Most are disabled Army veterans and are now struggling because of a fuged up government and its asshole elected officials that poo on the very ones that defend this country,

With this reasoning of this thread, DC should raise taxes on the country for the Redskins.
