rolling around on the ground, kicking his legs around for a while. Taken to the locker room. Hope he is ok. Looks like it could be severe. Hope he wears a visor next time.

Wouldn't be surprised if he lost his vision in his eye. That is the worst I've seen happen in a long time.

Wow. Hope he's alright and it didn't damage his eye itself. I have no doubt that it at the very least broke his cheek/orbital bone.

The team hadn't taken him to the hospital as of Midnight last night, so I don't think anything's broken. If indeed nothing was broken from that, he's very lucky and it's good to hear that he's probably ok.

Disgustingly scary hope it doesn't affect Eric and Jordan's play.

Visors should be mandatory. I don't care what the players say. Football used to not have facemasks. Players thought it was macho. They will get over it.

Some day I dream that we will see Eric, Jordan, Jared, and Marc all on the ice at the same time.

^^

Hopefully it's because they deserve their spots and not because we're trying to have a family reunion.

The only way Jared makes it is if it's a family reunion.

The Rangers released the following statement at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday on the status of defenseman Marc Staal:
"Following an injury suffered in (Tuesday) night's game vs. Philadelphia, Marc Staal was examined (Wednesday) in New York by Dr. Mark Fromer, ophthalmologist, and Dr. Mendel Markowitz, maxillofacial surgeon. The injury has improved significantly and both doctors are optimistic that Marc will make a full recovery. Staal will be sidelined indefinitely."
The team did not provide specifics on Staal's injury.
The most specific update came earlier Wednesday in a story on NHL.com by Dan Rosen in which Staal’s brother, Eric, the Carolina Hurricanes captain, says: “They’re just waiting for the swelling to go down” in the area around Marc’s eye before making further determination on the extent of the injury.

Eric told Rosen that he spoke to Marc on Wednesday morning and “he sounded like he was in OK spirits, but we don’t know a lot right now. Obviously we’re saying prayers and hoping he dodged a bullet as far as being struck in that area. We’ll know more with some more time.”
