Wealth Inequality in America

Very little.

The reality is policies and laws have been written by those with money in a way that benefits them the most.

I learned from my accountant that I don't have to pay taxes on any of the money I got for renting my house for the DNC because of a law called the "Augusta Rule." Basically rich people that owned property in Augusta had tax law re-written so that if you rent your home for less than 10 days per year you don't have to pay any income taxes on it...because they all make a healthy amount of money renting their homes to golfers, sponsors, etc during the Augusta National Golf Tournament.

While that law doesn't contribute to the wealth inequality in the U.S. it is a very visible policy that clearly demonstrates policies put in place by the wealthy to benefit themselves. There are hundreds, thousands even, of other, lesser visible policies that have allowed the richest people in the country to vastly increase their wealth in the last 30 years.

I'm not sure how you fix the problem though and I'm not going to pretend like I have the solutions.

maybe do as much as possible to remove the ability to use taxation as a punishment/reward depending on the situation or behavior?

nah, we need to give government more control so they can continue to play favorites

as far as the rich getting richer, and the poor getting poorer, i see too many broke motherfugers with a 300$ cell phone and a 75$ a month bill as well as 200 cable channels, brand new vehicle, and internet to buy that load of poo

plenty of people made it without being born with a silver spoon in their mouth, and plenty of those that were ended up broke

the problem starts with the anti-success mentality that pervades low income cultures

Where do you fall on the chart?

while i agree it's a problem, that mentality didn't fall out of the sky. institutional inequality didn't rise up to meet low expectations.

no its a vicious cycle that some people manage to break and others just succumb to the victim mentality of how unfair life is

Nature has no principles. She makes no distinction between good and evil.

I see that Panthro is still pissed that his below average intelligence and marginal work ethic have not garnered him one of those high paying executive jobs.

Surpringly I think you missed the point of the video Did you watch it?

No one is saying you madhatter are the problem. Stop being so defensive. Your 400k a year is laughable in zontext of this discussion.

and some people never get a shot... because life (as we've constructed it) is unfair. this situation wasn't created in a vacuum, we aren't operating in the natural order... if we were, those with excess would've been strung up by the have-nots long ago, the whole point of civilization is act as a group to benefit the group.

yeah those people that never get a shot mostly live in other countries.

you're talking about ways of thinking implemented on the parenting level.

Not trying to demonize you. Obviously you are wealthy because of your strong work ethic...just curious where you fell
