Smitty 2.0

Having said that, I think we can find another WR who puts up the same numbers, but we need to begin that search NOW. It may take some time.
Smitty, by the way, did most of his work without Cam Newton or any other high-profile QB. Imagine if we had a top QB or he had an opposite WR like Moose his entire career.

yeah, it isn't like Jake Delhomme wasn't a Pro Bowler or anything. It also wasn't like Jake wasn't one of the clutchest and best postseason QBs prior to his career ending Tommy John surgery....

Smitty and Moose and the OL made Jake into a good QB. I loved Jake's fire, his leadership, but he was not a starter in New Orleans behind a below-average QB, not a starter in Amsterdam, but he was a star here. He won with heart and persistence. Never was great though, in my mind.

You guys think we can petition JR to just clone smith.
Then in like 20 years he can just be the carolina panthers
And with enough Bojangles money he can actually make the Judge Dredd ( the only good 1 you know the 1 with Sylvester Stallone) leap wher
e they can manipulate the clones to age faster

Jake's best individual season....Smith played a couple snaps in one game of.
He was great when in mattered....which is what makes QBs great or not. His postseason resume prior to Tommy John was fantastic.
Kurt Warner had to play in NFL Europe as well....so pointing out what should be a first ballot HOFer was in front of him in NFL Europe isn't much of a diss.
Jake was very good. He wasn't pretty....but he was dang good before he destroyed his arm.

A wild VICTOR CRUZ appears.Stop with this Smitty 2.0 nonsense, I've heard it for years. David Gettis, Armanti Edwards, some scrub in the 6th round from a D2 school. Every year someone compares a WR with no relevance to Smith, every WR thread is smitty 2.0 (or just feels like it....). There will NEVER be another Steve Smith, so stop with this impossible fantasy and wake up to the real world, we got Smith for only a short time longer, enjoy his magic while it's still here. There is and always will be 1 Steve Smith.
The End.

I think you are right-I watched the Super Bowl game after my last post---people have forgotten how good he was here. I had. We had completely different expectations then. I compared the stats and performance during the season to anyone today--he would have been able to write his own ticket. Good point.Jake's best individual season....Smith played a couple snaps in one game of.
