The San Diego Chargers released two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes on Thursday, the team announced.

The 36-year-old Spikes addressed his release in a tweet Thursday morning and said he plans to play in 2013, which would be his 16th NFL season.

He had 78 tackles last season and in 219 career games has registered 1,423 tackles, 29 sacks, 19 interceptions and 15 forced fumbles.

Wonder if he'd be willing to sign for 16-year vet minimum anywhere?

He put up 78 tackles last year, so he's still got some left in the tank.

And the Panthers should sign him!

Am I doing this right?

Hurney would be eagerly drawing up a 40 million dollar contract if he were still here.

I think the Patriots will give him a call. They are always looking for veteran leadership on their defense.

I'll bet he ends up in Denver. This is the kind of guy Fox likes. See Diggs here and Brookings in Denver last year.

Too old, do not want. We already have Beason/Davis/Anderon/Luke/Senn/Philips, the last positions we need to spend a roster spot or a dime on is LB/RB.
