The next Panther Star WR

21 posts in this topic

I hope we do not go after any of the big FAs( I really dont think it is going to happen anyway). Players do not get in to the league with no talent. Every single player in the NFL has talent. It takes talent around them to turn the player into a star. Yeah, we have not had anyone to compliment 89 for a while, but who has been throwing the ball to them. Smitty is a freak of an athlete. Look at what he has done here with who he has had. Think of him with Brady throwing the ball around.

I think we have a QB that can create our own star without having to pay for an established star. Lets draft a WR with high potential and give him a shot.

Oh geese, this thread could turn into gold.

I nominate Joe Adams.

So you honestly think those guys do not have talent? Do they have the talent mold to be an outstanding WR? Probably not, why were they drafted though? Probably not to be our main WR. Lets be real here.

Edit: "Real Here" Sorry guys, forgot where I was.

They have talent, that's why they are in the NFL.

But are they star wide outs??? Um hell no.

There are only two receivers on the roster that have proved anything... Smitty and LaFell.

I agree, you cant draft project players to become role players and have a high chance for success. Lets draft/Sign some typical WR prospects and see what happens.

I'm all for drafting a WR, whether that be Hopkins, Allen, or someone else.

Me too. People tend to forget our QB has passed for almost 8000 yards over his 2 years here. Is WR really our biggest need??

    • I used to be an INFP but I just took one that has me leaning INTJ: INTJ Introvert(44%)  iNtuitive(19%)  Thinking(1%)  Judging(22%) You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (44%) You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (19%) You have marginal or no preference of Thinking over Feeling (1%) You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (22%)
    • Times change and things evolve. Have you noticed that this year's draft class is the best in many years in the secondary? While the rules may be changing, have you noticed how defenses and players have changed as well? A guy like Fournette could be the thing we need to take advantage of the fact that this year and last year, CBs are being drafted once every 6 players and this year safeties are going to be drafted a ton as well. I think it was Linville and I who were thinking the same thing, that if you really want to get ahead of the current NFL, you do something no one else is building their teams to stop. I'd love to see us get into a real power running game, not a great running game because your QB gets as many yards as your lead back, but a running game that forces the D to not have extra DBs on the field causing play actions to be unstoppable. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems like NFL defenses are trending towards not being able to stop a great running game.
