Charlotte Worried about stalled talks with Panthers

Recommended Posts

Atlanta gets it's new stadium approved in a week which will cost over 500 million, Charlotte plays hardball over 250 million in renovations

^^THIS^^ Could you imagine Sundays in the Carolinas ....your NFL TV choices are Falcons or Redskins with the fugging Cowboys for the late game. Somehow, someway this upgrade deal has to happen.

Doesn't Atlanta own the stadium though? Big difference.

Not sure, but at least the city is showing support for their team

Construction cost $248M back in the 90's.

They now want $200M....They should offer to repay the loan at $10M per year that would tie them to the city for 20 years and we'd recoup the money. I'd be ok with that.

Or give the city 25% ownership of the stadium.

Not sure how much more support the city could show. We've had 4 winning seasons in our history. How about the team showing some support for the city and the fans.

You would think that people in city/stare gov. with advanced degrees in "bean counting" would know this. If fans can come up with solutions on the interwebz, why the h#ll can't they.

Do they have advances degrees in bean counting or are they just communication majors

By your definition every business negotiation is attempted extortion. You ought to do some research on what extortion is before accusing a person or organization of doing it.

Glad to see you also know nothing about business.

This is what it has come to

Shiiting on your franchise for a lockout, rebuilding the team only to set us back even more by not rebuilding right, and now going through the process of even staying in Charlotte. WOW

Can anyone make an argument that JR has NOT been the worst NFL owner since 2010?

I'd be completely on board with either of these.

I'm not worried about JR moving the team... but I am worried about the next owner, who probably won't have any ties to CLT or the Carolinas.

On the other hand, the NFL doesn't want teams moving unless there is no other viable option. The last team to move was in 95 and it was a PR nightmare. Think of how hard the NFL fought to get a deal done in Minnesota recently and there was every excuse to move that team.

The only thing that pisses me off about this is the fact that I have PSL's and would basically be out the money I put into them.

If JR moves the team to another city, Charlotte would have another franchise in 2-5 years max. This is a revenue generating city and the plan has proven to be successful.

I'd go as far to say that the Jaguars would be on the phone with Charlotte 20 minutes after JR skipped town.
