Wow, in summary he agreed to take a paycut, had the paperwork done, but the Broncos failed to file it with the league office in time and so they released him to avoid having to pay his original salary.

I think Dumervil's agent tried to pull a fast one.

He'll probably just resign at the agreed salary... right?

I don't know, but I have a feeling that whoever was in charge of filing it within the Broncos front office will also be 'released.'

Dumervil's agent took too long to respond, it's on him.

That would be my guess but this opens the door for another team to swoop in and offer a big contract and steal him away. Given the current free agent market though I seriously doubt that happens.

Dumervil's reps took too long to send in the papers into the Broncos' office. So they had no choice but to cut him before 2pm.

Possibly, but they're probably still on the line for any "dead money".

I have been laughing at this since it happened. And I won't lie this one little screw up has been the sugar coating on the bitter pill that is the Panthers' off season.

McCoy and Telesco need to see how spiteful he's feeling. Doom does have 3-4 experience from the Shanahan days.

I agree, he wanted more money but wanted to appear to be a team player. His agent found a loop hole and he agreed with the plan.

I wouldn't doubt that. He could likely recoup the lost base salary in the form of a signing bonus.
