Accepted

NEW YORK (AP) - Sarah Palin says she accepts David Letterman's apology for the joke about her daughter.
The Alaska governor, in a statement issued Tuesday, said the apology was accepted "on behalf of all young women, like my daughters, who hope men who `joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve."
On his CBS' "Late Show" on Monday night, Letterman said his joke about one of Palin's daughters being "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez can't be defended.
He said the joke referred to 18-year-old Bristol Palin, not her 14-year-old sister Willow. But Letterman said it's his responsibility that people believed that he intended to target Willow, who had attended a New York Yankees game with her mother.
"I'm sorry about it, and I'll try to do better in the future," he said.
Letterman last week tried to make light of the joke after the first indications that it fallen flat. Palin had called the comments "sexually perverted," and her husband, Todd, said that "any jokes about raping my 14-year-old are despicable."
Palin said Tuesday that Letterman has the right to joke about whatever he wants to, and "thankfully we have the right to express our reaction."

My gah, what an over-dramatization of the whole scenario. Fuggen ridiculous. He should never have had to apologize and she should never have blown it so far out of proportion

To anyone grounded in reality that needs the Cliffs Notes:

  • the joke was about Bristol, not Willow (again, at those names)
  • Bristol is certainly fair game for criticism considering the Palin's shameful pandering, deception and overall hypocrisy in their own personal lives over the past year
  • Palin jumped all over it not because she was actually offended, but because it's the only issue she is evidently confident in speaking about from the cuff
  • No one cares about her opinions on actual issues, so this is her way of staying in the news.
  • the joke wasn't all that funny in the first place
  • Palin made it 100,000x more open to the public (and ultimately her own daughter) by creating this ridiculous fake outrage
  • David's 2nd apology was not necessary
  • People protesting outside Ed Sullivan theater should kill themselves
.

So now that you're in the business of telling people what they have a right to be outraged about, I have about 100 "victims" on your side of the aisle I'd like to address, beginning with a bunch of college basketball players from Rutgers.

I agree with you...much too much was made of this. But for once the shoe was on the right foot instead of the left, and it was fun watching the lefties bitch about it for once.

He gave Sarah Palin and AKPanther his account login this morning.
