I wouldn't call Poole and Smith elite like Marcus...

Let's knock that stuff out right now. Marcus hasn't even played a single down in the NFL yet, and we're not certain he'll last 3+ years due to that injury he suffered. McGahee got extremely fortunate that Buffalo, Denver and Baltimore took a gamble on him and were patient in the process.

At this endeavor, I'm sticking with the core we have. We don't need Lattimore.

Draft Lattimore in the 5th or 6th then immediately cut Deangelo the day after the draft, seriously. Guy has a much higher ceiling and is dirt cheap, plus we're one of the few teams so deep at quality RB that we could afford the risk.

Situational RB + two major injuries in two years = Do Not Want Dog.

Tolbert and Lattimore in 2014

not sure if serious, but i like this.

cut free from double trouble contracts and roll with those two and make better use of the money.

completely serious.

We can let Lattimore mend this year while we run D-Troub like mad.

If he is taken in the fourth

Why on earth would Gettlemen cut J-Stew after restructuring his contract? Better yet, why would Gettlemen cut J-Stew (and suffer the cap consequences) for an unproven RB who has endured two career-shortening injuries back to back?

The Panthers could be in worse shape two years from now thanks to such an idea.

Damn that scar on the front of his knee looks awfull.
I hope the guy can have a long and healthy NFL-carreer, but with our stacked (and overpayed) RB-position, can't see how we draft this guy. 49ers makes sence.

Lattimore will be like AP and Gore, who had injuries in college. Gore had numerous knee injuries and look what he has become. AP broke bones in college and tore his knee up two years ago. This is a new age. To say that a torn ligament means a guy probably won't make it is ridiculous. Lattimore is a punishing runner like Adrian Peterson who hits the whole hard and he blocks well too. I keep hearing dumbasses say RBs are a dime a dozen because Morris had a good season last year. They are not and one like Lattimore does not come along often. Sometimes you don't get burned, and sometimes you do as we did with Hogan. But look what we got with Hardy. He too was a potential 1st rounder with a detailed injury sheet and look at him now. If Lattimore is there late we should pull the trigger.
