I can't believe there are fans of this team screaming to sign big names at this point. First, it's not the way we operate. Second, it's financially impossible to buck that way of working this year even if they wanted to. Third, the best years this franchise has ever had came on the heels of signing a huge no name Jake Delhomme. Gettleman is going to methodically dig us out of the hole that Hurney dug us into (ironically, by signing big name players to huge contracts), and will only then begin the process of even thinking about starting to make some moves. I know you are tired of hearing about it, but it truly is a process.

I had the same thought: If he comes in, does that mean DJ Moore goes to S? Are we going to play him on the outside?

Moore
Dockery
Florence
Thomas
Norman
(Munnerlyn)

Not great, but they could see it as good enough to take into camp.

i wouldn't hate it...esp. with our front 7.

couldn't be worse than last year, could it?

person might be right...but he's just guessing at this point.

I was about to post, "Person has been wrong about almost every prediction. I have never seen a reporter so isolated from the inside info."

I think he predicted that Gamble would be cut.

He missed the rest.

Old school Hurney: "hey Cap here's a blank check, fill in whatever you feel is appropriate"

Gettleman: "oh you want a fat contract, well good luck with that.... go test free agency.... things not going so well huh? ... here's a reasonable deal... what's going on? .... still don't want to sign it? ..... oh well F#@K OFF we'll just sign someone else"

I think I just jizzed my pants.

What Gettleman is doing is what a "normal" GM does. Hurney was a disgrace.

I like these DBs--they are underrated. I think Norman will be much better in 2013, but I expect that Dockery and Thomas are fairly solid. I was most worried about the nickel position, and it looks pretty good.

I think a DT and a decent S, this group is going to be fine. Heck, the D was 10th or so last year. with rookie and inexperienced CBs, a special teamer S, and reject DTs. How did that happen?

FWIW--his brother was just arrested for a fatal shooting (he was in the car with the shooter, a friend) down here in Spartanburg where his family lives. I believe he had another brother shot and killed here as well
