If the Baltimore Ravens are going to open the NFL season on the night of Sept. 5, they'll need Major League Baseball's help. It's unclear at this point if they'll get it.

Vote for the greatest play in NFL history:
NFL.com has picked the 64 best plays ever, and over the next three weeks we are asking fans to cast their votes for the best. Vote now!

The Orioles -- who share parking-lot real estate with the Ravens -- have a game scheduled on the Thursday night the NFL plans to lift the curtain on the 2013 season with the defending Super Bowl champs as the main attraction.
MLB had been silent on the issue until Tuesday.
"From a baseball competitive standpoint, it would be very difficult to change times," MLB senior vice president Katy Feeney said, according to The Associated Press. "We're talking about September."
September is the home stretch of baseball's playoff chase, of course. The Orioles fancy themselves contenders and believe they will be playing meaningful games in the final month of the regular season.

It should be noted that the Orioles have consistently ranked in the bottom twelve for years in fan attendance. Let's see how this plays out lol

This is nothing more than baseball trying to maintain the illusion that they believe they're still "america's game."

Can't let a second rate sport like the big bully nfl go pushing around the real pastime Americans sit around all year waiting for!!!!!

Give it up MLB. Nobody cares anymore.

I disagree. You run an organization. You have a schedule. Why on earth would you do the bidding of another organization? If the NFL wants to pay for the change, fine. Otherwise, too bad for you NFL.

Nfl should just change from Thursday to Friday. The champ should open at home, and weekday prime time games suck for most of working America anyway.
