Why Passing on a WR in the first might not be a option

Taking the best WR in the draft didn't help Gabbert.

Yep.

That's it.

You put on a good act KKL but you obviously are a """""""""""""""high level troll"""'""""""""""""

Because no one can seriously say "Yeah Blaine Gabbert and the jaguars offense is simular to our situation." Especially considering the fact you get upset whenever anyone compares any of the other teams to us.

(Blackmon still had more yards than any WR on our team not named Steve Smith.)

Let's see... Drafting Guard in top 15 is dumb. First round DTs have only 50% chance of being successful in NFL. Pick your poison...

In my opinion we need WR... Our #1 WR is 34 year old. Our #2 WR struggled mighty as #2 WR. We don't even have a clear cut #3 WR. I feel bad for Cam Newton...

If a player can contribute to the team from day one it is not a dumb move. Warmack would get penciled in the starter from the beginning and would be accountable for his actions in every single snap. You can not say this about a single WR in this draft.

i don't expect any "plug and play" OTs to be available at #14. i wouldn't draft an OG in the first when you can find nice value in FA if you have a good eye (which we have in FA). you don't start rookie OL and expect them to not look bad/sloppy.

you want cam protected this year, you don't draft his protection this year and expect it to start and not make a poo ton of mistakes.

we have to win now. we need more experience on the OL to protect cam. starting a rookie every year has to stop.

You honestly think we are in "win now" mode? We are in a Hurney induced survive and adapt mode this year.

it helped Henne.

Not really. Is he even on the team now?

I was just replying to the "best guard in the draft didn't help Rothisberger" post.

How can you be troll when you defend players on the team?

You're the 1 pumping up players not on the team.

BUT WARMACK IS THE BEST OG TO COME ALONG IN YEAR

THE BEST OG TO COME OUT SINCE UH...David DeCastro...just last year.

I'll address your sarcasm along with those calling Decastro a bust with two points.

A. Decastro suffered a season ending injury early

B. Steelers win consistently, we don't even come close

i think they are under monumental pressure to win now. i think they have very little choice. win now or start over with a new coach. JR has very little time left. cam only has a couple more years. the fans are getting restless. they haven't won in 4 years.

they don't have the luxury of going through yet another growing era. they have to win now. winning season or bust. screw trying to build rome. just out together a team that can win games.

we arent that far away and we shouldn't be that far away.

this is one of the most pathetic franchises in the league. if they want to change that, they have to prove they are more than some potential. they have to prove they can win.

What is funny are posters who think if we don't draft a WR at 14 there wont be any left at 44. After all we know that no wide receivers drafted in the second round or lower ever work out. Do we have to look any further than Steve Smith who was a third rounder. In fact I just read that WR is the riskiest position to draft in the first rounder. Couldn't copy it because I am on my phone. Jumping on a guy who isn't the next Julio Jones would be a big mistake.

    • No, we haven't heard that for the last 5-6 years. Last year we could have gotten a solid tackle if we weren't picking 30th. People were talking up Tunsil, Stanley, Conklin and even Decker. The first two were considered top 10 and Tunsil was talked about #1 until the video showed up. None of the OTs this year have gotten close to those 4's hype. Heck, the #1, 2, and 3 OTs this year are a guy who just had hip surgery and played only 1 year in D1, a guy who seems to be past his checkered history and also played only 1 year in D1/is going to be 25 by camp and a guy with character issues that top draft prognosticators have called a guard or RT at best. That pales in comparison with last year's class. The only reason those 3 may go in the 1st is because there is no one else close and there are a ton of teams at the back end of the 1st that need tackles. Also, as I said, please go watch the Senior Bowl. Almost every OT that is after the top 3 was playing and they got tore up by the DEs/OLBs. It was like multiple Remmers out there making all the DEs/OLBs look like Von Miller. I was amazed at how bad some of them looked on multiple plays. I will repeat, this class looks awful to me, way, way worse than last year. I don't care if you don't like Gettleman or not, that line has been repeated by just about every draft analyst on this draft. OT is a glaring weak spot in this draft. If you really want to be upset, go look at the top picks we traded away before he got here. Do you think Dez Bryant or Demaryius Thomas would have helped Cam a bit?
    • It's mostly your boss's. He just generously lets you keep a pittance of it compared to what he takes off of your work.
    • I know it's not popular, but what if we trade back from 8? I know it's a good draft and there are a ton of great prospects in the top 12 but it could be possible.
