Carolina runs neither of those systems and the system in place in Carolina really needs a big NT to clog the middle. So they both wouldn't start, one would be a reserve and see maybe 20 snaps a game at most. I doubt they'd take someone that would see so little time as I doubt he'd start right away.

Carolina does actual run a form of the tampa 2. Ron Rivera ran it in Chicago and brought some aspects of it here. Special on passing downs. He also brought some 3-4 and some of Jimmy Johnson's blitz packages.

With fewer and fewer teams geared to run the ball. Pass rushing will be a premium. If he can help my pass rush, he will see the feild. With Keek and crew, we are decent in run D. But being able to rush the passer with YOUR base D. That is priceless.

Wish we had a third so we could at least try and give DT a boost. Alas, 4th or later is all we can throw at a DT this year. Which is why I am hoping for a DT in FA. Cole will be this years Bell. Great story for him to be back in a camp. I would feel better if we had an insurance policy in place.

IF I could ask Gettlemen one question right now? It would be, What positions are in your BPA pool? WR, RB, QB, LT, DE, and CB? No where in there is one G or DT. Get that notion outta your head. We need WR, DE, and CB out of that pool. One of those three positons will be our first pick. Maybe even our first two picks.

Just me. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

those names are positions. neither Dwan nor Sheldon have shown the ability to anchor, take on the double team and play the 1 tech position. a 3 tech and 1 tech have 2 different roles and jobs. if a DT can play both, great but right now neither guy can.

They run a variation of the Jim Johnson defense when healthy.

considered yes, but again if Booger did not line up at the 3 tech DT how is he a 3 tech?Jerel Worthy was a 3 tech coming out of MSU, but got drafted to play a 5 tech in a 3-4. Tampa 2 NT will still have to be able to take on a double to free up the LBs, or they will get killed by the opposing OL. Cox and Jenkins are 2 guys who have shown the ability to play 2 gaps either in the pros or college so they could play NT some if need be. Booger played NT 1 tech, when Sapp was on the field. again no team would line up 2 DTs as 3 techs because you are leaving 2 gaps unattended to.

Your missing the point. If Booger can play the 1 tech (and he was bulit like a 3tech) then a player bigger then him and stronger then him can play that position as well.

again when has either player proved that?Richardson and Edwards are penetrators not anchors. every NT does not have to be a certain size, its about technique and the ability to not get pushed off the ball which both players have a problem with doing. that is why most teams looking at Richardson are looking at him as a disruotive 3 tech. you even said that he stays in the backfield, why put him in a position to not be successful.

if they are getting pushed off the ball in one gap, how do you think it will look when they have to cover two?

He won't be in that position all the time we will run a rotation. And the fact that he can do the 3tech some 5tech and can rush standing up and drop back. Makes him a nice piece to add to our defense.

With Ron's defensive mind and Richardson versatility it's a nice thing to think about. But I'm not married to him being the pick. I'm just having a open mind to the idea.

I want to know who Hurney takes in the first and second rounds. We stick with his 1st round choice and make sure we do not draft his second.

manti teo in the first and denard robinson in the second

Then you haven't been watching film on him. Dude is always in the backfield.

Sure is...you are right his pressures affect plays. Are you at all concerned about him being light in the pants vs the run?

He actual built to be better against the run.

Possesses a naturally large frame with proper weight distribution throughout his arms and legs. Has a thick trunk conducive to standing his ground in short-yardage situations. Is quick off the snap, demonstrating the burst to slip through gaps before trap blocks can be effective

Sometimes great college DTs do not equate to great NFL tackles nfl hence the high bust rate. The great pro DTs have that combination of strength and speed. Most of the good college DTs have some speed but are lacking the strength to come out and start .Suh was one of the few that had both.If you have to draft a project, that most DTs are I would rather wait until later rounds.

I would be happy with the Richardson pick. The dude is a beast. I am from Missouri and have watched him a lot. Dominated in the SEC this year.
