What about the year we brought in Keyshawn Johnson?

Keyshawn was a big name but kind of blew chunks....

Keyshawn had a good year that year. There was really no reason to cut him other than he didn't fit the Panthers personality mold and it was assumed Jarrett would come in and do just fine

This kind of renders your opinion on this year's receiver prospects null and void..

70 grabs. Over 800 yards. 4 TDs.

Oh yeah. So glad we cut that guy. More proof against free agency right there folks!! It's been proven time and time again! Good players just don't help win football games! When will you people get it?!?

2003 is probably the greatest free agency the Panthers had. Stephen Davis and Jake Delhomme played key roles in getting to the superbowl. After that, I would have to say 2005. That year we brought in Ken Lucas, Mike Wahle, and Marlon McCree. Those guys were solid players. All we've done this year was bring in a punt returner, someone we should have signed last year.

Might sound odd to say, but I swear hope is almost like a drug in this fanbase. We get a taste of it and before long we're almost drunk on it. And truth be told, we're getting way more than just a taste this offseason.

Mind you, I'm not knocking hope. I'm as glad to have it as anyone else. And I'd add that it's not just the usual offseason optimism. It's a reasonable hope.

We'll see just how reasonable in five or six months.

Yeah. I was obviously being sarcastic with my post but Keyshawn was actually pretty solid that year. Probably not worth what we paid him but he was a good player.

But I think we did make a good decision cutting him though. He was 34 and didn't play for another team afterwards.

Okay, so this was our class of 2003:
2003 Unrestricted Free Agents Signed Pos Player Team G Doug Brzezinski Philadelphia QB Jake Delhomme New Orleans WR Kevin Dyson Tennessee LB Greg Favors Buffalo WR Ricky Proehl
St. Louis

Problem is, that is from our official website, yet, they don't even have Stephen Davis listed. All things considered, it's hard to beat any FA class that includes your starting QB for the next 8 years or so.

Okay, so maybe this is the second best FA class.

ken Lucas and Wahle was also a better year, this one has just been meh and I really don't get the excitement at all. I thought they were all decent moves but nothing soecial.

i think what is special is how far over the cap we were, what we've done with personnel, and the cap space we have now and it being so early in the offseason.
